How do you DO that? It hits me in the gut. It almost looks photo-realistic, but there's so much feeling to it. The depth is astounding.
I don't know. I suddenly feel I'm not educated enough to give a decent comment! It is simultaneously mysterious and evocative in the very best of ways.

I got lucky! I was just throwing around some blobs of colour and suddenly I saw it! (or at least so where it could be headed at). I DID look at a lot of pictures of clouds and rivers by moonlight, though. I painted the clouds from scratch a second time because the balance was all wrong the first time round. And the moonlight reflection wasn't coming out decently for quite a while. So it's not magic, I assure you! XD

Wow, you've depicted the night moon and clouds so well. That ominous underlay of light and just the right amount of dark -- the water helps a lot to show how bright the moon can be, yet how dark the majority of the wilderness is. Love the branches! And the red tones on the water.

Thanks! The atmosphere started looking promising from the initial colour blob-throwing... I took care not to spoil it while rendering.
