Yes. It's tracing. You didn't figure out how to draw a person in that stance. You drew over a picture.

Alright, your opinion. I'm not going to start over with that discussion again.
Have a nice day!

Why? You are drawing over a picture and altering it. That's seems like tracing to me. I am not trying to be mean, I am just trying to understand.

I don't know about your weird definition of tracing, but: Tracing is completely copying and redrawing a drawing/painting by another artists.
I use stock photos which were taken for that exact purpose as a reference for a digital painting. I'm not drawing over a picture and altering it, I'm using a stock photo as a base for a painting.
If you have a look at your very own gallery - you draw pictures using photos from magazines as a reference (which are not stock). That's exactly how I started out about 12 years ago. Not much of a difference there.

I don't draw over it though. I pretty much start with a stick figure, then I work up from there. All I see you doing is outlining the photo, which feels like tracing. Referencing does not mean drawing on top on a photo. I have nothing against you or your art and you are free to do what you want, but making a tutorial on how to trace confused me.

As I said - that is exactly what I started out with at the age of 14 or 15 - traditional drawings from reference photos. But I grew out of that.
Still, what I do is not tracing, and that you seem to not understand. Tracing means copying artworks of other artists without their permission and claiming them to be your own - and that is certainly not what I am doing. Tracing is stealing, which is a shitty thing to do. And if you want to take the time to go through my deviations, you will find that I credit, link to and thank all stock artists who supply me with stock art to use as a reference for my pictures.
And as for saying that you "have nothing against my art" and "I'm free to do what I want", yeah, so true - but then why do you bother and go around accusing me of stealing? Seems very peculiar to me.

Do you just scribble the lineart first?

You make this look so easy! LOL Maybe one day I'll try this out. I've just done some crappy line art, and tried to freehand stuff, but it never turns out as just using paper for me.
