I know what you mean, I thought I was the only one who was Tolkien-crazy enough to want to sit down and really think about the devices banners and other things that he wrote about, and then to draw them. But I haven't had the will to draw in ages, was really sick there for a couple of weeks and have been uh hum other wise distracted. But I start a new job on Monday so hopefully I'll see a bit of routine back in my life...man the life of a backpacker is by no means a simple one!
I met a clothes desinger recently who showed me some of her work, all in pencil, I was totally blown away by her use of them, I really have to get myself some, I just find the pen's tend to last longer!

Pencils are *wonderful*!!! I couldn't live without mine. Though I've never really used markers - perhaps I should get some and play. But pencils - I find them much easier to blend then other mediums, and they give such *intense* colours!
You're certainly not the only one who likes thinking deeply on Tolkien symbols and banners and devices - though I always though that I was the only one too!
Well I hope you get some inspiration to draw at some point soon! Though I can't talk, I've had a Fingolfin design staring at me from my sketchbook for about the last month :S But you're right the life of a backpacker is not a simple one - but normally its a fun one

Ha ha you have no Idea my past few weeks have been hectic, but absolutely brilliant on all fronts I think, I would love to see you fingolfin design, can you send me a scan thro email or something? If you don't wanna it's cool but would love to see!

Its the final design but the colours aren't *quite* right - not quite sure exactly why, one or two of the blues are too bright, and so bits are too dark etc etc

Its pencil - all the pics I've got up here are pencil. I just love pencils for the huge richness of colour you can get!
And we really do have similar ideas I think - and its so *nice* to find that there is someone else around who likes the Tolkien-y celtic-y art nouveau-y style I like

You can - I'm sure! There's very little difference between your gorgeous pics and mine!! You've obviously got the ability and the love of Tolkien utterly sorted
