...I Love CHARCOAL. And painting on charcoal with a brush. And a blending stump. And shiny, discerning eagle eyes. That is all. Thanks for looking ^_^
Oh, yes. This was an experiment using charcoal on watercolor paper, for texture. The jury is still out. You can't get a really smooth texture without massaging it with your fingers, but that paper can really take a beating. So, yes. My fingers are now precisely all those shades of black.
This fellow is not a specific character, but he Could be. He looks shrewd to me.

I always used to use watercolour paper for charcoal, conte and pencil drawings in pre-digital days. I can see why you chose it. Lovely drawing.

The great thing about digital is the chance to make several work in progress saves in case you suddenly get the creeps about what you're doing and can go back to a saner period in your previous work, plus the back button. You know that horrible sinking feeling when you have a nearly complete drawing or painting in front of you and you wonder if your final brushstrokes would make some eye-popping finish to it all and then realise after you've daubed your last that your work now looks like a dog's breakfast instead and there isn't all that much you can do about it?
