Fffffinally, a completely inked and colored piece of ATLA fanart. I don't remember the last time I let a piece of ATLA fanart get to the completion stage. Or if I ever did. This one is full of drawing mistakes and in places the coloring is messy and simply awful to look at, but I kind of rushed through this one. I really need to start looking at tutorials for coloring, go back to doing value studies so I can get better contrast and more believable lighting going in my pictures, and of course I need to go back to studying anatomy because I still have some bad habits I need to kick. This picture could be worse but it's not as good as it should be.

Mmm, I've shipped Tokka ever since they first hinted that Toph has a crush on Sokka. Before then the thought had occurred to me, but then I was like nawwww...but seeing how much Toph cared for him during the show, and seeing how perfect their interactions were, I really, really, really came to ship it. I ship Sokka/Yue and Sokka/Suki too, but Tokka is where my heart belongs. I tend to despise it when people insist that a girl and a guy can't just be bros the way Sokka and Toph are, but in this case...I don't know, I really like it when they're tender and vulnerable around each other too.

So I guess that's why the idea of a romance between them really appeals to me. Much more than Suki/Sokka anyway, because poor Suki was just sort of...there at the end of season three. She had potential in season two, but they never went anywhere with it. They needed to give her character development but it just never happened. They also completely dropped Toph's crush and HER character development so she wouldn't be in the way of Sokka/Suki, which irritated me.

I'll be okay if Sokka/Suki is endgame, because at least Suki is pretty badass, but I'd be about a million times happier if Tokka became canon, if even by just a little bit. Due to the whole Lin/Tenzin controversy, I guess it couldn't be a straight-forward type deal where Sokka is Lin's daddy. Siiiigh.

Anyway. Heh, looking at this picture again I made Toph waaayyy too girly. I didn't mean to, I swear. Her not looking directly at Sokka was on purpose though. Since, you know, that's not how she sees.

The calligraphy is supposed to mean something along the lines of 'smile with your eyes,' but for all I know the website I got it from was totally lying and it really means 'you're a monkey's uncle.' Hmm.

Okay, I'm going to crawl back into bed now. Yaaayyy, vicodin + chamomile tea = awesome sleeping forever.
