Months have passed since Evalyn last showed any horse. Times were to difficult for everyone to cope with, and no one was in the right mind to go to a show. Now everything changed. Highpoint Quarter Horses was in a new home, the horses were training great, and everyone was starting to feel happier again. A year ago was traumatizing, but if Evalyn learned anything from the past, its to keep looking forward. It was time to get back in the show ring and kick some ass.

She now stood in the trailer checking they had everything. Hunter and Evalyn had packed the trailer full with show tack and supplies that morning. She touched her show shirt bag and smiled. Evalyn had gone through her closet for show clothes a few days before they departed and proudly pulled out her favorite show shirt for when she rode Sienna. It was a nice shiny black material with playing cards on it and deep red cuffs. This shirt matched the red tones in Sienna's hair and just popped. Evalyn was thankful it was going to be overcast where they were going because most of her show clothes were black and very hot in the summer heat.

Evalyn looked around the rest of the trailer. They had the show saddle, pad, bridle, cinch. Okay. There were clean brushes, hair bands, Quick Braid, Show Sheen, Equus Avocado Mist and shampoos, a tail bag, splint boots, a lunge line. Good. Her show shirt, chaps, and black show pants were hanging on the rack with her black boots and hat box sitting underneath them. Perfect.

"I think this is everything!" Evalyn jumped out of the door of the tack room compartment of the trailer and slapped her thighs to dust off. "Let's load her up!"

Evalyn wanted her newest show horse, Pilot to get some experience with the show atmosphere so they decided to bring him along too. He was loaded first into the far back of the trailer. As Hunter hooked his halter to the line in the trailer window, Pilot munched greedily on the fresh alfalfa. Sienna was loaded next and she walked in like a pro and nosed around in her hay too. Both horses had leg wraps on and were safely tied in. Evalyn helped Hunter close up the back and lock the doors.

The ride to the World Western Finals was a breeze. Luckily the horses were both easy travelers and Pilot adored his Grandma Sienna, even if she didn't feel the same way! When the group arrived, the horses were unloaded and supplied with fresh hay in the hair bags and stood outside the trailer waiting for the events to start. Evalyn went to check in. She was worried about going to a show of this size after not competing for so long but she found out the class sizes were rather small, making her feel a lot more confident.

Within a few hours, Sienna was saddled, her main was banded, and she was shined up. Evalyn was dressed and mounted on her lovely mare. Hunter hopped on Pilot and the two riders walked together to the show ring. It started to drizzle lightly.

"Thank God for indoor arenas." Evalyn said as they made it inside just as the rain started to come down harder.

"Amen." Hunter laughed.

They stood together watching the last of the pleasure class. Trail was up next and as the pleasure horses left the arenas a truck came into the arena and people started to unload the poles. They were all bright colors and freshly painted. The people started to set up the course and the head course designer walked around with a measuring tape, barking out orders to the workers and pointing out mistakes. Trail was a science for sure. Finally the course was set and the judges were calling for the first entry.

"I am going to warm up a little before my class." Evalyn bumped at the reins for Sienna's attention and jogged her off to some warm up poles set up in the practice area. Hunter nodded and cross his arms, watching the first competitor make their way through the poles.
