The geomantic figure albus. Albus is Latin for "white" and is associated with the element of air and the astrological condition of Mercury in Gemini.

I decided to represent the color with the white plumage of a swan. As a bird the motif also references the air element.

It was fun to explore the different feather textures and figure out how to represent them as well as the different admixtures to the plain white from the ambient light and reflections on the water. There are purple, cream and sky blue hues overlaid over the base white. I added the white droplets where the swan shakes water from its wings at the very end with the help of a toothbrush, and it was a rather nerve-wracking moment.
