Description (2007) 5" x 7" Ink, pencil and pastel pens on brown drawing paper.

One of the necklace designs that did not surive the kiln firing of the art clay silver in December. I had planned on two silver panels, each depicting a dragon that would be joined by wirework in the center and would be supported by a strung necklace held in their mouths.

The orange stones would have been either faceted carnelian or sunstone beads.

I still have the paper models for the clay cuttings and will definitely make another attempt at this piece when the weather is dryer and warmer and the silver has a better chance of curing completely before firing.

Thank you! In this case it was a bit of both, the sketch existed before I went and tried the actual piece, but then I worked it up with the stones and metallic highlights after my first failed attempt to get a feel of what the finished piece might have looked.

This is stunning. I was glancing through your silver-clay gallery and saw this; I wonder if you'd let me use the design for a pair of bracers? I mean, let the artist who's doing a character portrait/possible cover art for me, use the design on leather bracers? (One of her (Luke's) nicknames is 'kisarkany', Hungarian for 'little dragon'.) More explanation if you require it.

Sure thing. I think it would be a stunning freeform knotwork pattern for a bracer design. Let me know how your commission works out!

Thank you so much! I definitely will (at the very least, it will be posted as an attributed work with notes in my gallery when complete).

Thank you so much for your earlier permission--I just saw the rough draft, and this design looks *fantastic* on Luke's bracers! If you like, as soon as I get the artist's permission I'll mail you a lo-res image, and when it's done I can link it on your homepage in the comments. (Please excuse how dorkily excited I am; this business of seeing something that started in my head take shape in an image, birthed from my own words, is a new experience for me--and it's enthralling.)

That sounds really great! I am so glad that the design is coming together for you. I agree, the best thing about inspiration is to call forth the images in your head and see them before you as reality - doesn't get much better than that!

Hello! I haven't forgotten your kindness in allowing me to use this design for Luke's bracers, and wanted to tell you that that commission is complete and posted here: [link] . I hope you like the way your work was incorporated; I *love* the finished piece. It will be a book cover for a book sold in a series of installments fairly soon. (There's an excerpt from the book posted on my profile page, if you're interested.) Thanks so much, again, Ellygator!

Beautiful - a real work of art all by itself! I've never tried doing colour sketches/plans for anything I've designed, but yours gives a real sense of the eventual depth, texture and weight of the finished piece.

This is itself is a beautiful piece of art. I've never really had the patience to sit down and do proper colour sketches of any of the pieces I design - it's all pencil and ink for me. Your sketch gives a wonderful sense of the depth and weight of the piece.
