Description (2008) 2.5" for the pendant including bail, 16" for the necklace. Silver clay (shaped, carved, fired, enameled and antiqued) enamel (orange, amber, woodrow red), yellow jade and garnet beads, silver lentil beads, Hill Tribe silver beads, silver wire, clasp finding.

Finally I'm back to doing clay work, and with some commissions coming up and some Christmas presents on the way, there should be more in the next few weeks.

For the four element pendants I chose the traditional alchemistical triangle symbols, a triangle pointing upwards for Air and Fire, a triangle pointing downwards for Water and Earth. The triangles for Air and Earth also have a horizontal line bisecting it, which I tried to incorporate by giving those two pendants more of a horizontal composition, and Fire and Water pendants more of a vertical one.

I carved the design of flames curling upwards into the Fire pendant and then filled the carved areas with enamel powder. After firing I matched the colors with gemstones that fit best with the hues, in this case burnt yellow jade rondelle beads and garnet to accentuate the deep reddish hues of the woodrow red enamel.

Thank you! I could make you a copy of the pendant if you like. Note me and we can work out the details.

Thanks so much! I had a lot of fun with this set. Being a Leo, fire is kinda my personal fave as well.

Ah, my zodiacal element! I really love this piece, the swirls make it so motion-y. I bet it must look spectacular when the sun's reflected by the metal. But I think it would look much better if worn on a plain, dark strap - the beads sort of make it difficult to focus on the pendant.

Thank you! I do get a lot of wear out of it, and out of the water one. I'm a sun-in-Leo and moon-in-Scorpio, so those are my two favorites. As for the leather cord, you may have a point there, I wanted to string them with "power" stones that also embody the element, but sometimes less is more.

Thanks so much! I will post more as I've done quite a few projects now. With the Tarot finished up I have more time for artisan crafts again.

Thanks so much! This project actually went through four or five iterations until I was happy with the designs. That's really quite unusual for me...

Thank you. This one had the most surprises in how the enamels struck - at least none came our green or whatever, but I had expected more reds rather than yellows...

well thats my element!... supposedly since i am aries... however i always have a strange aching towards water.. i really don't understand why. anyways. i do love this one... i think in order its water fire air earth for me!. but that is just one fine collection of wonderful pieces love it

Ellygator In reply to EssiesJewels [2008-11-15 14:59:36 +0000 UTC]

Thank you, I think I'm fire first and water second. With my sun in Leo and my moon in Scorpio I guess that makes sense... Still there's much more to it than just the Sun-sign that makes someone feel affinity with a particular element I think...
