Description (2006) 16" for the overall length of the necklace, 2 3/4" x 2" for the pendant.

Art clay silver, liver of sulphur, Sterling sliver wire, three peach moonstone beads, black, pink and amber tourmaline beads, small round onyx beads, silver beads, fireline, findings.

Another one of the December projects. This silver armature has three peach moonstone beads fixed to it and is suspended on a necklace of color graded faceted tourmaline beads. I had to cheat where the necklace is fastened to the pendant, because the faceted tourmaline were too big and I had to use the smaller round onyx beads instead.

Overall I love the warm, autumn-like color combination.

Wow, not only do I see peach here, there are so many others, like sienna, apricot and coral. And I love these kind of earthy yet light colours.
And the shape reminded me first of the natives of America and their love for the Eagles. Very nice done.

Thank you! I hope I can snag some more of those tourmalines. I also like your description for the pendant!

You're most welcome. It'a always nice to see what you come up with.
And thank you as well. My french teacher in evening-school was a globe-trotter and we used to talk of the natives of which she knew many stories, so this somehow came to mind because of the shape and style.

That's beautiful! Also a really cool color combination! I would never have thought of puttin amber and pink together. I'm not much of a 'pink' person-- in fact I have refused to wear pink clothes since I was 10-- and the only time I use it in jewelry, it's usually a tiny bit mixed with dark dark blue. Also, I have a very stron reaction to rose quartz... It is indeed a love stone. The ONE time I ever carried it, I got a *terrible* crush which lasted for 9 months, and I still haven't entirely shaken... Powerful mojo, that.

Thank you very much! Same here, pink has me running screaming for the hills, but I guess with amber and black it's tolerable. I remember my Mum having a beautifully set rose quartz pendant. I was fascinated by it when I was a little girl.

Thank you! I saw the tourmaline hanks with that color gradient by accident among a lot of watermelon tourmaline (green to pink) and I just had to have them and do something with them.

It would be so easy to cut this out of a bit of silver sheet..a drill, a jeweler's saw..a few files..
Give it a go..!

I know, I should push myself and finally go into mainstream silversmithing techniques. I don't know why I'm such a wuss about it...

Give it a go.....Here[link] is a pretty crap and unfinished example of something i made years ago...It was cut out of the flattened out spoon bit of an old spoon..if you get my drift...lol...I did make some nice things...but they are all long lost, broken, or given away...ho ho..such is life..(:

The only reason i've still got this, is because it's crap and unfinished....lol

Ellygator In reply to cosmic-tool [2007-03-06 13:52:11 +0000 UTC]

Actually it's a nice piece with a good flow of form. I think it could really be something special. Thanks for the encouragement. I certainly have my supply sources and everything - just a question of nerves - and time of course...

cosmic-tool In reply to Ellygator [2007-03-06 16:38:39 +0000 UTC]

Well I guess it's OK....As I remember there were two others like it that i made....I actually sold them..!
They must still be about....somewhere..
As for the silversmithing..start simple..you cant go wrong...good luck

I know what you mean. I don't like it either. Too much of a girly color. I like sophisticated colors, if there is such a thing. Lol! I was playing around in PS one day though, & my journal was born.

Pink, & this rusty mauve color.
