Description (2007) 2.5"x 2.5" for the silver pendant, 19" for the overall length of the necklace.

Art Clay Silver (cut, sculpted, fired and patinaed), silver bezel wire, silver wire, garnet cab, faceted coin and round garnet beads, faceted onyx beads, silver beads, Bali silver, silver finding for the clasp, Fireline

This was a commission by the wonderful She asked for a necklace based on the design worn by the lycan Lucian in the movie "Underworld".

I am really happy with the result, because I learned a lot. First off, this is my first properly bezel-set gemstone on silver clay, and I loved experimenting with enamel and with different textures for the clay. This puppy was fired three times in order to get it right.

1. Fired the basic design
2. Measured the opening required for the garnet cab, extended the originally planned space and added the bezel wire fixing it with oil-based clay. I also added two wire-holders at the back of the pendant to hold the strung necklace parts - fired again
3. Added the enamel to bring out the keypattern designs in the cross panels - fired again at enamel temperature
4. Set the garnet cab in the wire cup, antiqued and polished the whole thing and added the necklace parts.

Methinks I have to make myself one, too - amethyst maybe, onyx, or peridot (if someone sells a 10mm cab...)

Thank you! I did this for a fan who wanted a copy of the necklace. It was fun making it since the original is a really striking piece of jewelry.

Thank you, this necklace was also made by me, though I used a still from the movie Underworld as a basis for the pendant design. Materials came from the same sources I listed before.

I have an etsy store, but I currently don't sell actual jewelry pieces through it, just bead patterns. However, I am happy to work with you on a commission if you like. Something original or a replica of this or any other piece you like. Just note me, please and we can work something out.

That shouldn't be a problem. I've sold things all over the world... As long as you can use PayPal, we could definitely work something out.

Ellygator In reply to BetweenAsleepAndWake [2010-01-31 14:48:53 +0000 UTC]

Thanks so much! I had an online image of the original to go on, but that's not the same as really examining the piece. I had to guess at some elements, and the stone and the necklace are totally different.

You really did a wonderful job with the guessing and I love it.

(By the way, I heard there is a 4th Underworld movie in production.)

hii I am very interested in a pendant of Lucian, I want to know how much it will cost, if i ask you in comission

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Ellygator In reply to baliancullenmarek [2010-01-14 13:49:08 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for your interest. I sell the bare pendant for $150, the pendant with a threaded necklace of stones and silver for about $190 (depending on stones and length). I can also do other colors, such as onyx and black enamel, aventurine and green enamel, etc.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Ellygator In reply to Otakuprincess [2009-07-28 12:51:19 +0000 UTC]

I have sold a few of these (also with different stones) for $160 each. Most of the cost is the material - silver clay is just really expensive these days...

Otakuprincess In reply to Ellygator [2009-07-29 17:50:43 +0000 UTC]

Great job on the ornamentation on this...
I love the Underworld series.
I'm working on a similar piece that's inspired by the iconic pendant, but less ornate, and in stainless.
I've noticed they're all a little different in each of the movies...
I've just found a neat local source for crystals and gems and am drawn to lapis lazuli for this piece.
This is great inspiration...
Thank you Elly.

Oh awesome. It is such a beautiful and timeless design. Good luck with your project!

ou8nrtist2 In reply to Ellygator [2009-06-28 15:55:59 +0000 UTC]

I rented the first movie and watched it again last night.
There's a good closeup of the pendant near the end of the film,so I was able to finally study it in detail, but even in this first film they show it at least TWO ways. One with a RED stone and one with a green stone.
Since I'm working with stainless, deeply incising surface decoration is problematic,so is perforation. You can't just use a jewelers saw like in softer metals. And I'm wanting to use my own symbolic language...So I have allot to figure out in how to accomplish this piece. But I agree the overall FORM of the design is timeless, and somewhat tactile too...
I've cut out two blanks and am starting with jade for one and lapis lazuli for the other.

I think the lapis with the steel should look amazing! It is such a powerful combination.

ou8nrtist2 In reply to Ellygator [2009-07-01 15:07:52 +0000 UTC]

I need to research the metaphysical qualities of lapis because I'm having some sort of symbiotic resonance with it. I've never used it before in my work, but now I'm finding it's beauty compelling, and as you say, paired with stainless it could be impressive...
I rented the 2nd and 3rd of the Underworld series and got some good closeup views of the pendant...
It's made me respect the work you put into your piece all the more.
I'm trying to figure out my own symbolic language to put in place of the knotwork, and which technique to use.
This could take awhile...LOL. I think you've upped the anti with your piece...LOL

Thank you! I make replicas of these and any other of my jewelry on a commission basis. In fact I just sold a black version of the necklace to someone (worked with onyx instead of garnet). If you are interested in anything please just note me.
