The Valley must really be a huge place if it can accomodate Range AND various species to it.
So far, I've noticed that most of them--except Ruby--seem to be mammals.
Is it a rule of thumb, or will there be others outside of The Valley that are different, like Gator-folk and the like?
Interesting designs as always!

Interesting. I'm rather intrigued that you chose a deer- of all animals -as an antagonist. Not many would associate this species with a villain, given their generally shy and jumpy nature. Most people might go with a predator, but the originality of this idea is sure to grab peoples' attention ^^
Okay, I'm ready for Round 2 of character analysis. *rolls up sleeves* Let's begin...
Deer: Right away I'm receiving the message that he is not an altogether bad guy - probably bought by the bison as a hired huntsman or bodyguard. Granted, he is an enemy, and one should never underestimate their enemy lest they have a death wish. All the same, his expression looks everything but ready for combat, despite his musculature and handheld weapon saying otherwise. More reluctant than inherently evil, he doesn't look the part of a true villain at heart - most likely accepted the job from his bison employer in order to procure a source of income for his family (wife, kids, maybe parents, the whole shpiel). His very poor family. While in possession of a good sense of morality, Deer may reach a point where his desperation peaks and his desire to help his hypothetical family briefly overpowers reason. If he's aware of any dark deeds he committed, he'll feel tremendous guilt for it- either right on the spot, and freeze up in horror, or later when he's alone, and smoldering with inner torture. Deer's clothing (or lack thereof) and tribal markings suggest that he is very close to nature, probably a forest inhabitant. He is highly skilled at setting traps of many kinds, might use the underbrush for camouflage, and is likely to feel unsafe when in the open, outside the shelter of the trees. True to the nature of his species (and most wild animals in general), he avoids fighting if possible and the 'flight' impulse is far stronger. However, if forced to fight- for example, when backed into a corner or forced to charge by order of Head Bison- he is handy with a light axe and a skilled archer, techniques more accustomed to hunting than battle. Deer is also highly resourceful and a quick thinker, able to turn anything close at hand into a weapon or map a possible escape route in his head within seconds. Deer's true skills lie in survival - what can he use to survive the night or the following day? Over all, a very innovative character that is a true fit for its representative species.
Bison: You've already heard everything I have to say about this one . I'll just say that the real-life sketch emits a very gentle feel, not malicious or planning anything necessarily evil. While I'm aware that this is merely a visual reference, this makes me think that you're leaning toward the misguided-yet-well-prepared villain archetype. (....YES! *cheer*)
Okay, I'm done. Here's my as payment for your work. Good work, and good luck!

Cool! I'm interested in what kind of setting the story will be in. From what I've seen, the story seems to take place in a period similar to the industrial revolution judging from the mid western inspired attire the characters are drawn in. Is that what you were going for?

Nicely done. You do quite well with these real-life depictions. I like the way the anthro deer came out as well. Seems to have the right balance you've been meaning to strike. His antlers seem a bit small on him compared to your realistic sketch on the right. Although that's not necessarily a bad thing since it can indicate his age. Young 'bucks' tend to have smaller and shorter antlers compared to their adult counterparts. =]
p.s. 'Native American' is the preferred way to refer to the indigenous people of the Americas. The term 'Indian' is actually a misnomer and has been phased out due to its inaccuracy. Just thought you should know. ;]

Thank you kindly for the feedback and correction bro! I've made the update and am pleased to know how to refer to indigenous people in the America's properly.
Ah yes, this buck would be around his teens, hence the antlers not as big as an adult's. I'm surprised that antlers are grown and shed off every once a year! This applies to the other herbivores that live in the North American wilderness and have four chambers in their stomach (e.g. Moose, though the moose is more of a Canadian native)! XD

Those are nice sketches there. :3 I`ll just say to be careful on the style, if you are going for cartoonish anthro characters not to go too realistic and vise verse. ^^
