Description These are the bison troopers that work for at the Burswood Mines owned by Lucrum Industries.

Their roles include 'The Breaking' (which is the gathering and acquisition of slaves in The Valley), patrolling the mines to make sure the premise is secure from intruders, and finally, ensure that slaves are working at maximum efficiency and punishing those who resist or try to escape from the mines.

Each trooper in the garrison is equipped with a Hunting Outfit that is made suitable for patrol in extreme cold weather and harsh forest-mountain terrain (the fringed buckskin is material known for it's durability and providing warmth to the wearer). The Coonskin Cap is worn on the head for additional warmth in the freezing snow.

They also carry two weapons with them at all times - Frontier Standard Bowie and Rifle (one used for close range and the other for long distances in case one outruns the trooper).

The Pouch (which is made with a combination of fringed buckskin and leather) carries supplies that a garrison will need in their daily operations - this includes a safety/emergency kit (includes blow whistle for warning of approaching danger), rations, and ammunition for their rifle.

Their head boss is Serytus Lucrum (the guy on the very right to 'Ideations of the Main Villain [link] ) who is a frantic businessman and will do everything to get more coal out of the mines to make him filthy rich.

Huh, I feel rather weird about this.
I was thinking that buffalos would be more like native american tribesmen ralted people, since it kinnda fits them, rather than settler like.

Standard-Issue Frontier Timeline adequate wears--like modern stormtroopers today, these guys are packing heat!!

All in all, you seem to have put a good deal of thought into the 'Job Description' to make it accurate: everything a soldier needs to do a successful work.

Seeing as how these guys have the short and long range covered, does Lucrum have the mid-range covered?
[Being a Boss-Man and all, he'd need a Key Difference to stand from the crowd.
Also, in addition to S.A.A. Revolver I suggest you look into a special model of gun called the 'Repeater'--a short-barrel shotgun with improved rate of fire.
Makes for quicker disposal and packs a good punch to it!]

The S.A.A. Revolver - sounds like a beautiful name for a gun! ^_^ I'll keep it simple and continue to use what's available for close and long range combat for the BMGs (i.e. Burswood Mines Garrison). *thumbs up*

Cool!
Although I am worried about your villains being too cliche. For the Lucrum guy I guess it's alright for him to be a little cartoonishly evil, they usually make for fun villains, but for the other bison. I hope you don't portray them as absolutely and irredeemably evil. It would be more interesting if we found out that maybe some of them don't like their position or we find out that they're forced to do the things they do b/c of some reason or another.
Also I hope they're not too afflicted with this [link]

Now THAT's useful stuff for me to read and process. The Principle of Evil Marksmanship - I never even heard of it but reading the contents of I totally get what you mean! ^^

Keep in mind that the entire 'feel' of this graphic novel is intended for mature audiences - it's going to be less cartoon-friendly/fun than you think.

Here we go again. Brain Dump #3 Combo meal with a side order of size-Medium Psychoanalysis, coming right up!:

Minion.

That's all this guy is - one of dozens (or even hundreds), expendable, but deadly nonetheless. Judging by the number of bison dressed identically, and all claimed to have a similar purpose, it can be assumed that Lucrum has some sort of agreement or contract with a nearby population of said bison, so he can replace any that may fall with little difficulty.

As a species, bison are fast if they have adequate space to build up speed, and are aggressive when provoked, but are not very agile in the long run. Minion relies on weapons such as his Rifle to bring down runaways, maybe even his Bowie knife (*pokes picture in upper right-hand corner*) if the target is too close to use a gun effectively. Without weapons, however, he is at a disadvantage in close-range combat. Relying on brute strength, his lack of flexibility is a handicap when facing a species built for agility and swiftness. Strength in numbers often makes up for this, however.

Minion is as Minion does - follows orders blindly, not caring for his own safety or that of others. A classic mindless grunt that is often portrayed or even referred to directly as less than capable or intelligent. Since Minion and his fellows rarely speak beyond grunts or barking orders, it's hard to tell if this is true.

There you have it - Bison Minion #Doesn'tMatterLucrum'sTheBoss in a nutshell.

I love how you incorporate the little facts about animal habitat and behaviour with the discussion of character design in Cursed Wombat.

You know all too well! Wait till I show the other species involved in the story. ^^

I read too many books as a kid, and I'll admit I still have the reading bug - I know tons of useless yet interesting informational tidbits about animals ('cuz they're awesome), and whatever I don't know for sure, I can make an educated guess using visual observation and deductive reasoning. I hope this is helpful, and not annoying X(

Can't wait to see ^^!

Oh yes indeed...

The idea behind it? Burswood (the workplace I work in) is a casino right? No doubt it makes lots of money. The mines in my story is also a place that makes lots of money - can you see the theme I have going here right? = ) Essentially both locations hold something similar ~ greed.

You work at burswood??!!!!! I am indeed gobsmacked.
So, why greed?

Burswood's a great place to work in, love my E-gaming team.

Greed? I pretty much explained it, the villain wants to make lots of money - and the patrons I serve seem to not get enough of their gambling (not all of them though!). Incorporate those two elements and you'll see the similarity.

E-GAMES!!
I can imagine Burswood being a great place to work in, I actually applied to be a waitress in one of the restaurants, but I got another job as a medical receptionist instead.
I can also imagine the greed bit too, I've never been inside the casino, but I've seen what it's like, and stuff.
