Was wondering about that pusher plate and what that cascade drive could be while looking at the other render you posted... Gives your design some vintage flair although it's actualy cuting edge

Is that an Orion drive? Overall, nice design, love those radiators and feeling for details, if I assume correctly, you are probably someone who reads Atomic Rockets.

Yes, and yes. It's a sort of fancy antimatter-catalyzed drive where instead of a nuclear bomb you fire a beam of antimatter (only nanograms in total, its energy input is negligible) to ignite fission in a fuel pellet which then ignites fusion, as in a thermonuclear bomb. There might be all sorts of fun back-and-forth between fission and fusion depending on just how it's arranged. My fictional catchall term for any engine of this type is cascade drive. Recently I saw a NASA thing which referred to just this sort of reaction in an engine as a "fission-fusion cascade", so I guess the name is appropriate. But that's just details of how the pulse unit blows up. Otherwise it works just like an Orion drive.
