Description
“Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.”

So this has been my biggest and greatest painting to date I think, and I love it.
I haven’t drawn Emika in so long and it was wonderful. I tried new things with both linework and my shading style, and I’m super pleased with how it has come out. Emika has been a huge part of my life for years now, and it’s safe to say I think I’ve finally settled on a final look for her and the species as a whole that she belongs to.
This piece came about as direct inspiration from Zack Hemsey’s piece called “The Way”. It is a powerful and emotional piece that makes me think of time lost, love wasted and a desperate hope. It’s a very intense and beautiful piece, I highly suggest looking into it.
There is a decent amount of symbolism for me personally in this piece, but I feel discussing or explaining those symbols would take away from the piece as a whole. For now, I’ll leave it at the way life has been treating me recently.
Thank you all for your wonderful support over these years, and here’s to another great year of art from me!
