The back and forth between the commanders were little more than murmurs. And Abelcain was not happy with the prospect. One of the OMPAF ships attached to the CONA formation had been the first to fire, but he was convinced there was foul play, his men up there were some of the most loyal.

“Regardless of who fired first the Coronan fleet needs to be intercepted or there won't be much point in CONA defending this planet.”

“So much for the defence guarantee. Besides, at least we fired the first shot in honour of this war!” Finally Abelcain spoke up. These people looked up to him, idolized him, and yet he treated them no different to any of his family or friends, all were the same to him.

“Enough. I agree, if Corona won't be intercepted this entire charade is pointless. We must force Orillias hand. Recall all OMPAF vessels in the CONA formation, have them plot an intercept course for the Coronan fleet.” Damn Orillia. If ROMB hadn't been sabotaged by their damn lapdogs Abelcain could have called upon a much larger fleet element right now.

“Sir that's suicide” Abelcains impassive face now stared across the holo-display.

“Better they die along with their families and all of us together jointly defending our home than out under the slave of some AI system on the edge of the system chasing ghosts. Free our ships”
