Description
Tantalus Mk.2 Grand Empire of Capitol Gunship:
Overview:
Another uplift in Project Rebirth the Tantalus Mk.2 is the latest in Capitols atmopsheric combat support. The Mk.1 suffering heavily from lack of speed, ineffective defenses and near useless weaponry was almost retired well before project Rebirth however the Mk.2 was drastically redesigned. With a under slung center mounted 140mm Scram cannon to engage enemy tanks and armoured vehicles at closer ranges the true terror of this gunship is the racks of ATGM pods, able to carry up to 200 Reaver ATGMs in rapid succession the Tantalus can quickly hit and run enemy positions and armored columns, the gunship being a firm favorite with ground troops.
Capabilities:
Armament wise Tantalus carries a 140mm Scram cannon, designed to punch through enemy armour at long distances, this gun is semi automatic, allowing it to fire up to 4 shells in rapid succession before the autoloader has to reload the clip. It also carries a huge payload on its external wing pylons, able to carry up to 200 Reaver ATGMs in pods, hundreds of unguided/guided explosive rockets, 50 Thermobaric cluster muntions, 5 7KT nuclear cruise missiles and even air to air missiles for self defense its load outs are heavily varied. However it can if need arise replace the Scram cannon and most of its external pylons in order to carry a single center lined launcher underneath which dispenses thousands of cluster munitions over the flight path area of the gunship, capable of destroying vehicles and infantry alike over a wide area.
Defensive measures and armour wise the Tantalus is actually quite well armoured, being a very heavy aircraft it carries enough armour to defend it against medium levels of AA and get out alive. It also carries chaff and a rudimentary ECM system.
Electronic abilities wise the Tantalus mounts an enhanced fire computer designed by the EPA capable of hacking incoming smart ordnance and also able to give it some degree of stealth.
Speed wise the Tantalus is actually fairly slow compared to other craft, only able to muster subsonic speeds of 900kph when fully loaded and a little over mach 1 when empty, it is also constrained to atmospheric flight.

Critic time!
It needs horizontal stabilizer. The main wing is too small to keep the entire airplane stable. Not to mention it is going to be b*tch to turn.

Well the thing is supposed to be antigravity-capable, the wings are just there to provide weapon attachment points and inert lift in case of total engine failure. Pitch could just be handled with TVC, a vertical stabilizer would do nothing if it's hovering statically or flying below its stall speed, which gunships do a lot. This isn't an airplane.

1. Those engines visibly lacks any kind of tvc.
2. Vertical stabilizer is in the tail (And it has one) Horizontal stabilizer are the small wings beside the tail.
And if is ant grav capable, why bother with such straight wings in the first place? A double delta woulde allow for better performance all around the board.

1: Telling by how Myric's done me in terms of art I've asked him to color, he might have accidentally colored over some detail made by Voughtvindicator.
2: I think VV knows what a vertical/horizontal stabilizer is.
3: VV pointed out the entire point of the wings is for hardpoints. To create the same amount of hardpoints as shown on the straight wings, you'd need some huge deltas, meaning more mass, meaning bigger A-gravs, et cetera.
