Description

Zeus Capitol SPG:

Overview:

Based on the chassis of the Hyperion MBT the Zeus SPG is Capitols primary artillery unit. With its crew located in the hull within the turret rung and a massive auto loading shell system located in the turret along with the ammunition the Zeus while not fast has the ability to deploy in around 30 seconds and have rounds on target in around a minute, able to put 12 rounds down range in 2 minutes from its 185mm howitzer. Able to use GPS guided and self correcting rounds the Zeus usually deploys in batteries of 4 guns well behind the front lines. However it is still mounted on the Hyperion chassis and so the Zeus does have a descent amount of armour if it does find itself in a tight situation, and the main gun can be used at closer ranges.

Capabilities:

Armament wise the Zeus is armed with a 185mm autoloading howitzer. The gun has a range of around 450km with the shells being scram jet assisted they can be guided onto the target through a variety of methods either GPS, Laser designated by troops etc. The shells can also be programmed in attack patterns so the target can be hit by multiple shells at once and come in a form of different ammo types. AP rounds are designed to crack open armour vehicles especially heavy and super heavy tanks. HE-Frag rounds which are the norm to engage targets of interest. Cluster munitions that scan the target area as they make their impact and then hover for a few moments firing out miniature shaped charges into vehicle engine units to cripple enemy units. And finally gas canister rounds for a chance of using viral or chemical weapons against the enemy. The Zeus also has a cupola heavy machine gun for self defence.

Defensive measures and armour wise the Zeus is very well armoured with an effective armour thickness of around a meter especially on the front the amour plates made of Azanium have the capacity to stop both kinetic and energy blasts. However additional plates can be added, however the Zeus doesn’t possess any ADS apart from very basic one use frag launchers.

Electronic abilities wise the Zeus is equipped with an advanced by Capitol standards electronic system able to interact with other vehicles and command, as well as give complete awareness to the crew and operate the frag launchers and automated machine gun as well as help aim the howitzer and guide the shells to the target.

Speed wise The Zeus is fairly average able to muster 32mph with around 25 off road. Fully able to spearhead and armoured advance with plenty of room for infantry to ride on top.

As a joke with older Capitol vehicles, the thing will blow up real nice with the first shoot.

'Older'

Indeed the Zeus is far from old however the Minotaur may do so but the Hyperion and its variants will take far more than a single shot

Unless it happens to be a nuke, but who would waste one on a single unit (I might, but that is just me).

Would be a complete waste of resources lol

Not the first time I would waste resources for little to no reason (or gain)...

True but it would be pointless when you can just use other vehicles

That would be the wisest action to use, a lighter (aka faster) vehicle would use flanking or punch through holes in front lines to deal with them. And the nuke wouldn't be wasteful if it on division of Zeus (or any other enemy unit). From the barrel length I would say though they could engage lighter vehicles in direct front mode...But either way, the use of non-"Super weapon" armed vehicles would be the wisest and less wasteful idea.

Indeed but then Capitol uses ABM systems and such on frontline use to prevent such use of tactical ballistic missiles, as they themselves use them so wouldnt just have no defence against such

Yeah, as you have posted before they are working on their defenses, but that is not what is important.

And that is one of the reasons they are so much fun, besides the fun they blow up real good.
