Sounds slightly similar to forging a pact with a dragon...
How does one acquire a phantom arm? Or are they merely a sort of power that surfaces at a certain age?

A person gains a Phantom Arm when they become a Daeos or a Seraph, which are essentially the same thing, the main difference being Seraphim gained their powers willingly, through a poorly understood process known only by one person, whereas Daeos' powers awaken at the onset of a certain triggering event during their childhood, one typically horrifying and involving death. All of the Daeos/Exorcists are around the ages of 13-17, and something unspeakably traumatizing happened to them. Of the very few people who know that such people even exist, nobody is entirely sure why their powers surface.

That's very interesting.
Do their powers ever wane with time?
Or do they keep their Phantom arms until death?

In any case, the bearer of a Phantom Arm cannot lose it, as it can be summoned to their hand at will. While they are not indestructible, if ever broken, a new one can always be conjured. The only way to truly lose your Phantom Arm is to die, at which point it explodes into a shower of ink, which eventually evaporates into nothing.

That is excellent. I'm liking these powers, and can't wait to see what will happen
to those who use the Phantom Arms, I look forward to the struggle, as well as the outcome.

If anything, if they aren't killed, (which they often are), they only get stronger, especially when continually experiencing whatever strong emotion caused them to gain their powers in he first place. Unfortunately, there are complications with this emotion-eating power of theirs. Should one hit their mental limits, they enter something called Grim Catharsis. What exactly that is is a spoiler, but it generally results in the person undergoing it dying as soon as it wears off.

Sort of. Not really. Her powers might be light based, but they're anything but holy. But that's a spoiler.
