Description Over the weekend i was able to get a bit more work done on my deathdozer. getting all the parts(interior, front blade, tons of gismozs) done and ready for prime and paint was alot of work. anywho i knew the weather was going to be perfect for spraying(in my barn lol) i  went to work at warp speed. as you can see some of the in the first pic, the dozer does look good with a nice primer coat on. now its all downhill and the fun stuff begins. i will be pretty busy with painting for the next couple of weeks as i have boxes filled with parts, primed and ready for me to paint and weather.

Sometimes i get asked about how much i plan, and that's usually a two part answer for me. the build itself i plan a little, have some ideas, and i figure out the construction steps(how to break down the kit for paint ect) but really most of my builds are seat of the pants, see where it takes me. you might be shocked by the utter lack of plans i have for projects when i start kitbashing.
but when it comes to the paint, i a pretty crazy about planing(as you can see in the last two photos) i always paint a scrap practice hull(my old warrior mcv is great for that and has seen alot of different colors) usually while primer and base colors dry i quickly paint up my practice hull in the color scheme and give it some weathering. this helps me not only warm up, but see how all the colors will interact and give me a better idea of how the scheme will look. it can be hard to keep track of all the colors, especial when i have to have a bunch on hand for stowage and figures. so having this  as a reference is worth it for me. once i get to mud and pigment weathering, the hull will get that first too. doing this for me has saved my butt more than a few times.

anywho for anyone interested here is the paint list for the deathdozer(which is very very similar to other raider schemes of mine) all detail work is done with "model masters"enamels, the weathering will be done with art acrylics and model pigments(not listed)

Well I suppose for something like kitbashing you don't need so much planning, otherwise the result might look too orderly for a bandit vehicle.

If you don't mind I have another pun: Your practice hull is now a "Rainbow-Warrior MCV"

yea, and it just more fun for me XD
plus i have a tendency to really get bogged down and sometimes wasting too much time, getting something "right"

lol that's a good name for it.

Which vehicle does this hull and suspension belongs to ?
It reminds me the M551 Sheridan...
And some parts on it look like my Colda tank...

a British warrior mcv(modern apc)
the kit was a pretty cheap one, if you even wanted to bash it.

Oh, thankie~

I don't do models anymore, even if there are some completly (and interesting) new in their boxes, waiting to be built, in my room...

welcome anytime.

ahhh anymore?
if you have some, you should give it a go! do a quick kitbash or something, sure it would be fun for you.

Not soon at least...
I'm also not a skilled model maker, I just put glue at the places where it should be, then I paint with a single brush the whole model... skilled model makers do much more

*remembers he bought a Heller Somua S-35 model at the Musée des Blindés de Saumur when he visited it 2 years ago, but that he shouldn't start to make it before he moves to another town*
... still not started yet...

Go for it; Ok I do have a variety of different size paint brushes but I don't own an airbrush or spraygun even after 40some years.

If you think you should have more brushes because big brushes are easier got big areas I'd suggest #2 and #6 chisel-edge brushes for areas, #3 normal for camoflage patterns, and #00 normal for small details.
Most of mine started as one of those, and the intermediate sizes are part-worn.

When I will start modelling again, I will have a look into my father's model toolbox (before Internet was here, he made models, now I own them and can have fun swapping some part of them like here erwin0859.deviantart.com/art/H… ), I'm pretty sure there are some other stuff...
Thanks anyway

One word of caution there. Make sure any modelling knives (or scalpels) have sharp blades. The single most dangerous thing in model making is a blunt knife blade!
