Description Living in the wasteland can be harsh. Pesky towns not "sharing" gas, do-gooders always picking on you, giant mutated critters the size of busses and a general lack of respect towards you and your friends. if this sounds familiar, than the Abrams Redux is for you. upgraded from a M1A2, the redux has all the old world beauty and firepower but upgraded with the latest in salvaged raider tec. featuring a 120 mm barrel with rail gun attachment, coaxial machine gun, loaders .50, dual .50 commanders turret and back mounted .50 for any tailgaters. The redux features the latest in defensive technology as well, smoke launchers, infrared targeting, raider tec guidance/ radio jammer dome and on board NBC detection suite. Additional wasteland survival armor has been added for encounters with the ones that are dumb enough to fight back. When out in the wasteland and you must kill every last motherclucker, accept no substitutes, get a redux today!

This is my kitbashed Abrams tank, built up in post apocalyptic style. Built from a 1/35 Tamiya "operation Iraqi freedom" Abrams, bit bin details, scratch built details and custom raider figurine. Hand painted with enamels and weathered with art acrylics and pastels. This project was super fun and a good excuse to be shamelessly un-realistic.
I had built the original Abrams kit about a year ago and really was never happy with it. I had messed up a ton of things and I had always considered it a failure. So it sat on a high shelf for a year collecting dust, mocking me.
After all the time and work i put in on my PBR model, I it thought it would be good to work on something a bit more relaxing and a lot less time consuming. Over the last few weeks i have seen some really awesome Abrams models/art and figured it would be fun to tear apart mine and make something I would be happy with. I gave myself a one week time limit and went to work. All in all this was really too much fun and i am happy with how it came out. a few things here and there could of been better but I wanted to stick to my one week limit (kind of like speed paint I guess, see what i could get done on a deadline) anyways hopefully soon ill find a good spot outdoors and take some shots of it with my screaming hawk.

Wow! What an amazing idea; the main battle tanks of today as the cobbled-together shadows of their former selves of the future! The model is simply excellent, & I sincerely hope that you never stop being awesome at this hobby!

I wanted to do one of these with my daughter's firetruck if she totaled it (she did and tossed it before I had a chance). Β How do you know when you're doing the 'Mad Max' style additions that it feels right? Β

that would be cool! these bashes are always so much fun.

thats a hard question. usually it just clicks (looks good and feels right) thats what takes me the longest in building these bashes, is just deciding where everything will go.

usually i start with a rough idea and some details or gimmicks in mind. then i dig thru boxes of bits, find some interesting parts and throw them into a box, then slowly build everything up.
sometimes its really really hard to tell, i am usually unsure about how everything is gonna look intill i get some primer on it. i guess some of it is luck.

thank you very much! the photos were the hardest part for this build, just cause it was really hot(summer time) and i was under the lights for a bit. anyways it was super fun.
yea Tamiya makes very nice kits and while some are very expense, you could probably still find some that are not crazy expensive.

XD Random panels with explicit words for the stubborn!

Love its orangey rusty effect, makes it looking truly like an artifact from the old world that can still kick some major ass.
Oh my god, tis a railgun! q_q

WereOwl-In-Wisconsin In reply to enc86 [2013-07-22 00:06:16 +0000 UTC]

I was quite unhappy when I found what was left of the White House in FO3. Spent half the game wondering what sort of cool loot might be waiting in the Oval Office, or the Lincoln Bedroom, but what do I get? A big radioactive crater. I walked around that thing ten times before realizing that the White House just - wasn't - there.

But really, the tank does look like something that should be sitting on one of the deserted highways or abandoned military bases. There's an aircraft carrier (loaded with jets) docked on the Potomac, a Maryland National Guard armory on the north side, the Pentagon is downtown, and even regular Army trucks are everywhere. But no tanks. Where did they all go???

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

enc86 In reply to WereOwl-In-Wisconsin [2013-07-23 00:16:54 +0000 UTC]

I KNOW! thought i was the only one. yea that was a big let down, i mean you in D.C, COM ON! if i was going to make a game in that setting, you would think that would be one the first things you worked on.

lol yea never thought about it but that is odd! in fallout tactics you get a tank near the end (is some sort of sherman) and is something i would LOVE to see in 4.
