I wouldn't know about pedophilia more than the average person if I hadn't gotten into shipping fights here on DA a year ago. Seeing people saying "pedophilia" about some of my favorite pairings made me interested in this topic, I started reading about pedophilia and realized it ain't nothing what most people consider it to be.
It's so ironic - I'm somewhat immature person, trolling and looking for people to argue with. But this led me to finding out what pedophilia is, and when it's all about serious topics, I'm way more mature than most people are. Using facts and logic, and not falling for my emotions. Oh God. When I was in the Army back in the late 90's, there was one guy in my unit who I am very sorry to say that I once considered a friend. However when I was on battalion staff duty one day, the CID came by asking about a guy fitting his description right down to the sticker on his car. I then learned the horrifying truth that this guy had molested two underage girls at the same time. I immediately terminated the friendship and offered no comfort or sympathy as he was arrested and later sentenced to be dishonorably discharged. I don't remember much, but I think my sergeant had to hold me back when I got into a confrontation with him.

But, pedophilia isn't a crime at all... It's just (according to scientific research) a mental condition of sorts. It's just the attraction to children, not the act of victimizing them.
I mean, child abuse is a crime, but it isn't synonymous with pedophilia. In other words, a pedophile isn't necessarily a child abuser, and a child abuser isn't necessarily a pedophile.

Attraction to children is a mental disorder that can be treated. Child abuse is an actual and incredibly horrible crime. However, being attracted to kids doesn't necessarily mean that you'll go around harming or abusing kids. Do you understand that?
