how did you install the icons in your preview screenshot?

I am running Windows 8.1, but none of the icons or UI elements are altered except the arrows in Windows Explorer. How do I solve this?

I really really love the subtle changes you made to this theme! Is there anything you can change with the taskbar buttons to make them look more "flat" and less "glowy" if that makes sense? Perhaps a little more like win10 ?

By far my favorite theme. Upon trying the 10 tech preview I found this is the first thing I miss. Any chance you could port something similar over (at least the white text). Thanks so much either way.

Hmmm... I don't have the Windows 10 Technical Preview right now, and I believe Microsoft will fix most, if not all of the problems my theme was intending to fix in the final version of Windows 10.
Perhaps when the final version of Windows 10 is out, then I will decide. But for now, I have no plans to update this.

Hey, sorry for the late reply. Anyway, most of the icons are taken from here: www.deviantart.com/art/MAXIMUM… . Some other icons are modded from that set, or from other icon sets. Search metro or flat in deviantART's icon category.

You made a very competent VS, I'm going to keep using it.

You flatter me. I just wanted to make something that goes better with what Microsoft probably had in mind.
Glad that you are enjoying it!

this theme looks really nice... but I think, if this theme had metro icons (I mean square metro app icons or folders like music, video etc), it would really look like as if it came straightly from microsoft. 👍

can u make the taskbar buttons also flat? That will make theme awesome..........
One more change I would like to propose....
1). make borders of windows to the color of menus....this will make it more flat and metro look just an advice....if you want I can provide the reference what I mean

The taskbar buttons are as flat as they could go. I decided to keep the borders for the sake of usability and consistency - virtually all of the clickable elements in the theme have a border around them. I tried removing the border but found usability issues in some situations.
As for the border colours, I'm not so sure about that, but perhaps I could look at your mockup first before I decide?

I see what you mean.
You know how to customize the ribbon UI? May I know how?
If it involves too much hacking I guess forget it. I wanted this theme to be usable with minimal fuss.

Sorry for late reply..........
Yeah ribbon UI modification needs system file modification and shellstyle.dll as far as I know, I am still working on it. If is too much you can leave it as it is. When I complete my ribbon UI modification I will send you a note on how to do this.
The border thing......if you can do it it will be awesome...........but just keep the taskbar black with white fonts. With black taskbar and border how I told you will make the theme with pure metro look and usability will not affected in any way. What do you think?

For the border thing, I may look into it in the future if there are enough requests for it or if I can find the time. For now I think I'm happy the way it is.

Very good. You should "unglass" the shiny look of the taskbar buttons I think. The only other thing I don't like are the HDD icons, they're just too "misaligned" too far from the center.

I will look into deglossing the taskbar buttons further. As for the HDD icons, it's from the icon set I'm using, and not exactly my fault.

About deglossing the taskbar buttons, it might help to know the High Contrast Themes that come this windows have completely opaque taskbar buttons. but if I remember correctly the High Contrast themes differ from the normal ones a lot.
That might make it hard, if not impossible to port that over without a custom shellstyle. I know a custom shellstyle is how some other themes change it.

I think the High Contrast themes are running off Aero Basic, not "true" Aero, if I'm right.
Hmmm... if there's enough requests for this I might start looking into it. For now though I think the taskbar buttons are not as glossy as it was previously already.

Wonderful theme. I'm sadden by the fact customizers had to make a theme with such a simple but needed feature of being able to change the titlebar text to white. =\ When it was so easily achieved with "Advance appearance" in previous versions of windows. Thanks so much for this.
