๐๐ข๐ช๐ณ๐ฅ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐บ๐ด ๐ท๐ฆ๐ฏ๐ฆ๐ป๐ถ๐ฆ๐ญ๐ฆ๐ฏ๐ด๐ช๐ด is a fossil side-necked turtle of the family Podocnemididae, from the Late Miocene of the Urumaco Formation, Falcรณn state, Venezuela. The carapace measures 46 to 67 cm in length and is characterized by lacking neural plates. ๐. ๐ท๐ฆ๐ฏ๐ฆ๐ป๐ถ๐ฆ๐ญ๐ฆ๐ฏ๐ด๐ช๐ด inhabited shallow coastal areas, where it possibly fed on algae, mollusks and crustaceans that it crushed with its ossified secondary palate. Although its appendicular bones are unknown, nearby elements of another species, ๐. ๐ฉ๐ฆ๐ข๐ญ๐ฆ๐บ๐ฐ๐ณ๐ถ๐ฎ, suggest adaptations similar to that of the pignosed turtle, ๐๐ข๐ณ๐ฆ๐ต๐ต๐ฐ๐ค๐ฉ๐ฆ๐ญ๐บ๐ด ๐ช๐ฏ๐ด๐ค๐ถ๐ญ๐ฑ๐ต๐ข, and other cryptodirans from brackish waters and/or even marine environments. El carapacho mide de 46 a 67 cm de longitud y se caracteriza por carecer de placas neurales. ๐. ๐ท๐ฆ๐ฏ๐ฆ๐ป๐ถ๐ฆ๐ญ๐ฆ๐ฏ๐ด๐ช๐ด habitaba รกreas litorales someras, donde posiblemente se alimentaba de algas, moluscos y crustรกceos que trituraba con su paladar secundario osificado. Aunque se desconocen sus huesos apendiculares, los elementos proximales de otra especie, ๐. ๐ฉ๐ฆ๐ข๐ญ๐ฆ๐บ๐ฐ๐ณ๐ถ๐ฎ, sugieren adaptaciones similares a la de la tortuga de nariz de cerdo, ๐๐ข๐ณ๐ฆ๐ต๐ต๐ฐ๐ค๐ฉ๐ฆ๐ญ๐บ๐ด ๐ช๐ฏ๐ด๐ค๐ถ๐ญ๐ฑ๐ต๐ข, y otros criptodiros de aguas salobres y/o incluso de ambientes marinos.
