Okay so ... this is a quickie. I had started working on this around ... well, a little after Christmas after learning through another artist's Deviation that there was a contest on Equestria Daily, which ends tonight. So I decided to enter. There is a chance - although very small - that I could win either an Intuoso Tablet, or the Bamboo Tablet or $100.00, so I just thought; What the Heck! Let's do it!Thing about Equestria Daily, though, is they are strictly MLP;FIM peeps and this contest had rules. There could be NO OC'S so I just used a background character I'd seen in last season's last episode. Don't know his name but I liked his look.
Anywho...
Kind of in a hurry, I've got a family get together to get to for New Years, so I'll make this quick.
When I learned of the contest I was already sketching out an image of my own two characters with a very similar idea. Very similar poses, as well, but not in the FIM style. In fact, not even in the MLP style. It's more my style. But I tweaked it a bit and came out with this.
My fondest dream is to one finally have my own special someone during the Holidays. That's one of the reasons I chose Rarity for this piece. She, to my knowledge, was the only young adult mare - not quite filly - who was actively hoping / searching for her special 'prince'. Well, if anyone saw "The Best Night Ever" you'd know that didn't quite go over so well. Prince Blueblood was a, well, 'Royal Pain' as Rarity so eloquently put it.
However, that episode did partially inspire my other image and thusly this image. How wonderful would it be to spend the Holidays with someone you love? Well, Rarity finally achieved that dream.
Her dress is a rendering of the dress she wore in episode 9 of this current season, but it's not blue. It is, yes, in fact red with holiday type, um, embroidering s. ^^
I hope it qualifies for the contest. And more importantly I hope it wins. I'm yearning for the tablet but.... I guess we'll see. Who knows HOW many people are pinning for the same thing?
Started it last night. Finished it this evening. Probably.... almost 12 hours of work? Didn't quite keep track, but it's close.
Prismacolor markers touched up with pencil and some other markers for lining and finesse.

It's certainly a lovely dream, especially how fabulous Rarity looks in that stylish dress and more so that she has that loving, dreamy smile. The accessories look good with just the bit of jewelry an the shoes. Her dream hubby is terrific too, very handsome, strong, and quite smashing in his suit. That he adores Rarity just as much is great too.
The living room looks great too, a lovely mantle piece and lots of images. The Celestia picture is lovely but bittersweet too, since it implies the time when she was responsible for both day and night. It's also cute to see a couple of her friends ad a nice little trophy on the mantle, not a lot of clutter. It's well selected. What I can see of the fireplace looks great too, and I hope there's a chain curtain so that the lovely Luna & Philomena rug doesn't get cinders on it. The Christmas decorations are lovely too and fit nicely, not overwhelming.

I was rather proud of how her hubby came out. I got a little flustered with Rarity, though. Her face is a bit too... concave, almost. Not round enough.
The tree and the background was a pain. Too AGES to finish. And ... yes, I would imagine there's a chain curtain on the fireplace. I just forgot to add it in. ^^

For all the fine work you put into the picture it's the least I could do.
Maybe the curtains hang from inside the fireplace and are kept open when there isn't a fire.

Thanks, but I'm not a sparity fan, unfortunately. He's a BABY dragon. She's nearly an adult pony. The idea is cute but unless he were older ... and maybe a different type of dragon I don't see it working.
