Description I could go on for some time why this picture means a lot to me, like that the immense Leipzig Hauptbahnhof was the largest terminus in Europe until recently, or that these trains are so good that I'd almost like to live in them, but let it suffice to say:
We can't just let it to `damien-c to play with trains.

OSX Preview, Photoshop CS3. If it doesn't show up in the Exif, the camera was my Canon 350D.

I might be wrong, but that's not the usual ICE..

It's one of the flavours of the ICE-T, the precursor of the ICE-3 that's running to Amsterdam, but to be honest I don't know exactly which one. [link]

Hmm, I haven't seen it before anyway It looks like the new ICE they're making..

This picture is already 3.5 years old, and this was a fully operational train. Personally I prefer the ICE-3 looks, but I haven't seen any pictures of the new design yet.

Hehe, ICE trains with desaturated surroundings seem to be very in I guess, but they do look quite nice with that single red stripe like this

Yes, that was what I liked about it. Somehow that red stays alive while everything else goes.

This is quite stunning and, like so many photos, must really be seen in large format to do it justice.

You worked it out in PS right?? The colors I mean...

EricForFriends In reply to fallen-aggelos [2008-07-04 14:41:13 +0000 UTC]

Well, most of what I did about the colours, I did in Preview (the free application for photo editing in OSX). It's very basic compared to PS, and professionals will probably laught at me for it, but it has all the sliders for color and light on one panel, so it works quickly. For what I remember, I did the final bit of contrast in PS, and I need PS to add the border and the text.

Ok... That was some information.. lol... It looks great either way... Maybe even better than if you had done it all in PS...

Hehehe. If I want a bit rough effect with contrast, I use Preview.

Do you want to hear something funny? I was planning my next journal to feature Arthur Leipzig. There has been a lot of coincidences lately like this, it's freaking me out a bit...

Very cool station btw...the architecture above is amazing!

EricForFriends In reply to powgrl [2008-07-02 17:53:10 +0000 UTC]

I love coincidences. Most of the time, that is.
I didn't know Arthur Leipzig, but - for all the differences that are there, especially in quality - if you'd have to point out a picture in my gallery that comes closest to his style, this would be it, don't you think?

If you think this architecture is amazing, wait until you see the entrance halls. I made some pictures of those too, but as a picture, this one is best.

powgrl In reply to EricForFriends [2008-07-02 18:12:26 +0000 UTC]

Yes, I believe he would have loved the interaction of people and architecture. You must have been channeling him this morning. But, was it you or I perhaps a collaborative effort!
I was just looking at your picture btw...very distinguished.

EricForFriends In reply to powgrl [2008-07-02 18:54:00 +0000 UTC]

I like to think that it was a collaborative effort. I look at his work with greater attention in the future.

Thanks! I've just finished readying tomorrow's picture - it's the station's entrance hall, and it has a classic touch. You'll have something to check before breakfast.
