Description I wanted to refrain putting up stuff until DA re-introduced the option to have deviations displayed in full view rather than in mandatory downsized view, but there seem to be no ambitions to change do that.

Here we have a shot from today's spontaneous tour, all the other photos can be found in my DSO thread , as usual. A certain someone, let's just call him Torsten, kept pestering me with the advice to go to Cologne West whenever I complained about trains getting boring.

So while I was standing around in Duisburg, I heard that since the Regional Express was overly crowded, one was allowed to board the InterCity to Cologne free of extra charge. So I thought "Why not?". Soon, I was flying through places my train would usually stop at, doing 125mph in a former Interregio coach. That means that it's not pressure-sealed, and you can even open the windows. It was terrorizing to say the least, the wind, the noise, and seeing how the locomotive in front of you was bouncing about as we screamed along the tracks. I liked it.

Having arrived in Cologne Central Station, I boarded the regional train, but then I saw this composition with the three people standing there, and just had to shoot it through the window. Did a bit of photoshopping as far as lens correction is concerned, to remove some obvious distortion. The trains are of course two third generation ICE trainsets and the IC that got me here behind them.

Anyways, Cologne West. Yes, it was boring, but there were some nice finds, such as a mighty class 151 double traction, and a top and tailed "Iran Runner", a diesel engine based on the Eurorunner, for use in (you guessed it) Iran.

There was also a class 66 and a shitload of road switchers. And I really mean a shitload, they seemed to come by every five minutes, which seems logical, considering that they belong to a company based in Cologne. There were also many modern electrics, so as you can guess, I wasn't impressed. The weather was nice though.

Just the right amount of glint there on the windshield. Excellent pic.

Hehe, I admit, I cheated. The glint is actually coming from a roof outside of the station, but it's juuuust at the right spot to make it look like it's coming off the train.

Truly epic composition.

Yet another example of a great shot taken through a pane of glass.

Thanks!

If you get so close to it that your lens almost touches it, there aren't even any annoying reflections, though the dirt still shows most of the time.

Nicely spotted Soma.
But I think I would have cropped it more, just to get rid of that fourth person, or maybe photoshopped them out.

Thank you! I did try it, but felt like I lost too much of the train's curves by cropping the sides. Photoshopping would indeed be an option, but you know me. I'm lazy.

And thanks for the btw.
