Description

So...I actually had this done at the start of February, but didn't feel like uploading it then, which was probably a good thing.  I continually messed with it because I either tweeked designs or just didn't like something until I decided to say screw it today and finally throw it up here.

So while I'm in the process of rewriting Genetic Origins at the moment, I never had a 'cast' image for that story.  I hadn't really started those yet when I was originally writing it.  But before I had decided to rewrite it, I was planning on finally getting around to writing the final book in the series, Genetic Crisis, and I wanted to redraw an old picture I had done for it, because there were several things I had done that made me cringe even back then.

So I did redraw it, and this is the result.

So, obviously, the biggest change here is Liam.  He did look like he did in the original, but one weekend my muse went nuts on a What-if idea (what if Bri had never been taken as a child), and I had to make designs for the characters.  Obviously, Liam wouldn't have become a pirate, so I designed him how he'd look as a normal Coelian.  And I liked that design so much that I had to use it for his Genetic Crisis look.  The idea here is that he's trying to distance himself from Takeshi Tataka, so he grows his hair out and shaves half of it, which I guess is a common Coelian look?  I have no idea.  All I know is he looks great with that style, and I absolutely love his new jacket!  He looks edgy and cool, and I think that suits Liam pretty well.

Shaylee's dress originally had a different design, closer to what I had originally drawn.  But then I got to thinking that I sort of had this style established that she didn't follow, and since I didn't love her in the original dress, I decided to tweek it a little to make it similar to the others.  And she looks really good in it!  I think she looks fantastic in the blue, although technically her color is pink, and Bri's is blue.  But whatever.  She can have it if she looks that good.

Danika, Bri, and Damien I didn't change, like, at all.  Sure, Danika doesn't have the ribbon on her shirt, but that never really suited her in the first place.

Rachel, who, funnily enough, hasn't even been introduced yet in the story as I type this out, is someone else who gets a big change.  She's part of the reason I wanted to redraw this in the first place, because I simply didn't like how she turned out.  But she looks so cute with the pigtails, and I love her outfit!  It's simple, but it's cute.  And she turned out really well in this version.

Ian...well, Ian's as dorky as ever.  He doesn't change much, although I like the short pants I gave him, since they suit him weirdly well.  I also gave him freckles, because I figure if he's outside a lot after he got to Demeter, he'd develop them much like Bri did.  I really like how he turned out.  He's weird;y adorkable.

Overall, I've very pleased with how this turned out!  And looking at it always makes me excited to get to write the last book.

Here's the original version if you want to compare.

It's weird, I could have swore you did have a cast picture for GO, but apparently not? Maybe I was thinking of something else, but maybe I was just thinking of the original. Which is technically a cast picture, but it wasn't labelled as such, so I can see where the confusion comes from.

There are a lot of striking things about this, and I'm not sure which one to comment first. Lol who am I kidding, IT'S SHAYLEE. Damn, I know blue is Bri's colour but she looks amazing on it,. And I like how her outfit follows a bit closely to the style you'd already established for Demeter. Of course I don't know if she looks so striking because of the blue, or because ion the different way you highlighted her hair--it's super red and vibrant here, and it looks really pretty and eye-catching!

Liam is also very striking too, but considering his hair is dark he doesn't really stand out as much as Shaylee But I like the idea! It makes sense he;'d want to physically distance himself from his other persona, both for maybe his mental health and wellbeing and maybe to make it easier on the people of Demeter as well. I also like his new jacket too! It pairs nicely with Ian's, and both his and Ian's jackets look close enough to Damien's that they really don't stand out as much as you would think--sort of a way to still dress in a way they feel is "normal" but without seeming too foreign to the people of Demeter.

Also I'm not really sure what's different with Rachel besides the lack of waves and shorter hair? She looks really cute in pigtails though. Reminds people that she is just a little kid all things considered. Also I know you probably just put her in that because you'd lost all your old patterns, but the red plaid looks really good on her! Plus she's sort of that age where she probably wants to be seen as grown up and trying to find her own way, so it's a bit of a punkier, rebellious look...you know, punky but not too out there. I dunno, it made sense to me but the long and short of it is that it looks nice.

The shirt pants actually work surprisingly well on Ian, but maybe that's because guys already wear really long shorts so it doesn't look too weird. I don't have much to say about the others because they didn't change too much, but they all look great as usual.

I like it! And now you can say you have an actual cast picture under your belt!
