Description Edit 2-19-15: Added a new character.

This was actually done because I had an idea for something at the very end of the story, and I wanted to see how it's actually look before committing to it.  And since Bri and this guy are the only changes to this version, I figured I'd stick them together and design them both just for the hell of it.

The idea I had was randomly (randomly) giving Bri shorter hair, as well as Sedgwick attempting to continue the experiments on her even when he knows its a lost cause, meaning she has blond hair now.  Except...I didn't want it all blond, since that looks silly on her, and there's one girl I work with at the moment that has the thick blond streak in her hair, so I decided to try that.  And the combination of the short hair and the blond streak is just...wow.  She hates it, but she looks good.

So figured I'd do an official design of her Coelus outfit, since she starts wearing that a lot in GO.

The guy there is a random character I thought of possibly for GE, but ended up deciding not to use him.  But he stuck with me so much that I decided to give him a part in the second book, and beyond, since I don't have has much planned for those.  He's a space pirate hailing form Ayame's colony of Rikugo, and he lands on Coelus, where he's discovered by Bri.  I don't have too much about him planned yet, but hopefully I'll figure somethings out when I get to writing this second part.  He's mostly there to introduce Rikugo to Bri, really.

I decided to beat him the hell up, because it's fun.  He has the prosthetic arm and a leg, as well as a prosthetic eye.  His other eye, well, he wears the patch to make him look more like a pirate, and he's of the Stefen Cartwright school of thought that the ladies like it.  It's also because his prosthetic is so advanced that he can see better with just the one eye.

I tried to include what it looks like, since it's too tiny to see on his face, but...I think I screwed it up a little.

Ha ha, he's yet another man who Damien's sees as competition.  He may have a thing for Bri at some point.  >.>

The other female there is actually Bri's little half-wit friend from the half-wit colony she was in at the beginning of GE, Rebecca.  She was a cute little side character I had come up with on the fly that I sort of forgot about until I was editing the book, and I figured I'd find a more permanent place for her in the story.  The short version of it is that she ends up replacing Bri in the Black household.  Which is why I put her in a version of Bri's work uniform.  I just didn't want it to be exactly the same.

She ended up rather adorable, if I do say so myself.

Haha, when you were experimenting with the hair, I thought it was a dye job. I knew she'd had the gene therapy but I didn't know what it'd change, I didn't even think of her hair. >.< I suppose she should be lucky that it didn't turn her completely blonde, even with such a massive dose of the serum. Now, if only Demeter had hair dye. I mean, I imagine they'd have something like henna, and I suppose that could be mixed with something else to make a brown, but it'd take a lot of experimenting to match Bri's normal colour, if it ever did. I'd be curious to see how Bri would look as a blonde, but I imagine (since her skin hasn't been changed yet -- I presume that's the last thing to go; either that, or the eyes) it wouldn't quite look 'right', if that makes sense. Her skin tone wouldn't lend itself well to blondeness.

I'm just rambling though. My thoughts have no place in the story, just speculating. I like to speculate.

The sad thing though is that it took me a minute to realize her hair was shorter now; Sapphoros sits at just the right place to kind of cover up where the hair ends. It was obvious once I saw it, but it took me a minute. >.< It's definitely interesting though, even if it was an unplanned haircut. I kind it kind of hilarious that, for all Sedgwick's experimentation and desire to make her the "ideal" woman (albeit a very, very, very narrow definition of ideal, that probably panders to the scientists' personal preferences as much as it is the COSMOS mission), Sedgwick himself cut her hair. Accidentally, of course, and no doubt there are guys who like women with short hair…but I doubt Sedgwick or the scientists are those sorts of men, or else Bri wouldn't have been forced to keep her hair long. So somehow that makes her accidental haircut even funnier.

I've seen her outfit before, so there's not much else I can say about it that I haven't already. I think the jacket's been tweaked a bit? I kind of like that waist-length jacket, and the hood (for carrying Sapphroses, of course) is also a cute touch.

The guy actually shocks me, just because Bri's father had a fake eye and a prosthetic arm, and somehow that seems significant enough that I'm surprised it's just a coincidence. I guess there are two really roughed up people in the galaxy, then. (Especially since I think William has scars over one of his eyes? And this guy has none.)

(I still love the idea of William as a pirate, in a stupid, cracktacular way. Everything's an experiment. He'll raid a ship and then write a comparative paper on how his men did. Every so often, they will be graded. )

This guy looks like a pirate though. He'd have to, with that jacket. (I can't quite tell what's going on with the cuffs though -- are they edged in a plain white fabric?). I'm wondering what kind of place Rikugo is if he can dress like that, but I suppose he could be putting it on for show as well. Because come on, you're a pirate, you want to dress like one too. The eyepatch certainly helps as well, though if you wear it right, an eyepatch can work in a lot of places.

The prosthetic hand looks cool. Not as cool as Bri's leg, but I think that's a given. His eye looks cool too, even if I'm having a hard time figuring out what's going on there (grey eye with either green dots or a ring of green around the pupil). It looks tech-y all right, and I kinda like the contrast between his appearance and the obviously high-tech gadgets he's got.

Poor, poor Damien. Not that Bri would doubt him, but it sounds like he has plenty to be mad about as it is (i.e. the experimentation on Bri) without throwing a potential (in his eyes) romantic rival into the mix.

Although only one design is truly new, I like seeing designs. Love these!

Yeah, that’s the main reason I rushed to get this done, because I wanted to see how she’d look with this hair style and the half blond, since I knew she didn’t look right with the full blond.  It was a random ass idea to have Sedgwick stick her, because he knew she was getting away, and he had to punish her some way.  But seeing the girl at my work with hair like that gave me an idea, and I wasn’t too sure about it.  And since it turned out so well…yeah, it happened.    But yeah, she looked odd as a blond thanks to the fact she still had the ocher skin.  (I was confused about the eye thing until I realized you meant the shape.)

Ha ha, yeah, Sapphros doesn’t lend himself well to showing off short hair.    I think it looks rather nice on her – GO takes place a few months after GE, and it’s had time to grow out and her to get use to it, but yeah, she’s rather pissed about the unexpected haircut.  I don’t think Sedgwick’s necessarily one of those guys who view long hair as strictly ‘sexy’, so it’s no huge deal that he cut it.  After all, hair can grow back, and I’m sure they have methods to accelerate the growth besides.  And I don’t think he’s really trying to make her ‘sexy’ – just Aryan.  But he lets the scientists do whatever they want, so long as she ends up white, blue eyed, and blond.    He’s not disgusting, just despicable.

Yeah, I tweeked the jacket a little, making it waist length rather than a bolero, but I think it looks better, in my opinion.  I love this outfit.  I can’t get enough of it.

Yeah, the idea behind William was that he lost his eye (duh) and arm in the attack that took Bri.  For this guy, I sort of made him a combination of Bri and William, trying to mess him up a lot,  because it’s cool and evil.    And yeah, William had a scar over his eye, whereas this guy…not so much.  He lost it a totally different way.

Yeah, he purposefully makes himself look like a pirate, because that’s what he is.  I wish I made the jacket a little more elaborate, but…whatever.  It serves its purpose.  (His cuffs are lined with lace, actually.  I’m surprised that doesn’t show through as well as I thought.  )  Yeah, it’s not so much Rikugo that allows him to dress like that so much as him choosing to do so because he’s ridiculous.  He’d probably have a peg leg as well, if that wasn’t so annoying.

I sort of wish I could have done the arm as cool as I did Bri’s leg, but you get the point.  Also, his is a standard prosthetic, whereas Bri’s is custom build, so it’s be a little more awesome.  Yeah, the eye is supposed to be a grey eye with bright green dots that are connected to each other.    I just liked the idea of a prosthetic eye, for some reason, even if I couldn’t actually color it right.  Ah well.

Yeah, Damien has jealousy issues, although he really shouldn’t.  Ian made sense, but come on!  This guy is clearly a threat!  He’s a space pirate!  Talk about competition!

So glad to have these out now.  They ‘twere fun.
