Description Paria River Rimrock Toadstools, Utah

Toadstools are balanced rock formations assuming the shape of a toadstool or mushroom. Differential erosion with the bottom stem portion eroding at a much faster rate than the top cap is essential for the formation of toadstools.

Those things always fascinate me. They look like something that shouldn't exist outside of a Dali painting.

The differences in colour and texture between the different areas of rock in this shot really add to the overall oddness of it. It somehow doesn't look real, more like a made up landscape.

It's brilliant and you did a really good job of capturing it.

I could never be a toadstool then, my top end is eroding faster than my bottom end
Beautiful photo ernie
