Description ('Polyserena' is the name of a song and album by Australian band 'george')

I took this photo this evening as the sun set over Sydney for the last time in 2004. It was taken with my brand new Canon EOS 300D.... I've only had it for a few hours, but already love it to bits! I hope you enjoy this photograph.

Photoshop: Intensified the sky colour a wee bit.

I always liked this pic. The gradation of blue to purple is splendid.
Last night I had a dream that I lost the link to the page... How I panicked....

Reminds me of Arizona sunset and plants.

This has very strong desert feel to me, maybe because I live in it.

I love the colors behind the silhouette of the plants, they look beautiful.

You live in the desert? Interesting.... I've been thinking lately about the landscape photos you could get out there, particularly out in the Australian desert, with the red sand.... the rich redness stretching out as far as the eye can see until it touches the sky and fades into an intense blue that arches like a dome over the whole scene. Mmm.

Glad you like the photo and thanks for your comment

I love George (what a voice she has!! ) and I love this image. I find it so unexpected to find the differences in focus in a silhouette composition - adds an extraordinary sense of depth to the image, likely because there's less of any other usual photographic element, allowing that aspect to strike home harder. Advanced critique? Change NOTHING!!

Nice looking, keep it up!

I can definitely see why you love it - really beautiful silluhuoette there and nice colours!

However, my only nitpick is that perhaps a wider DOF would work nicer... but then again, it looks really nice with the shallow too!

great photo. the color behind the flowers, instead of distracting us, alerts us to the shadows of the picture.
