Description
This was something i drew over the course of friday and saturday at anime north.the surface is cardboard and coloured with markers. I dunno i just recently developed an obsession with cardboardy textures and the colours brown. the highlights just come out so much more clearer on carboard and cardboard has this texture to it that...i think i'll start doing more cardboard stuff, or maybe not.
I hope im not making a huge mistake that'll ruin my drawing career....hmmm.... maybe someday when i become homeless i'll have no choice but to draw on cardboard surfaces. i guess its good practice!
this drawing was partly inspired by the song: "feel good inc" by gorillaz.

he he he ^_^ i dont know about you becoming homeless, but I agree with the highlights coming up clearer. Try drawing on dark grey or black card - it can lead to very interesting drawings when you uyse the right pencils - only prob is that you cant use markers (on black that is). I did a few drawings on black card last year - looked awesome. You should give it a go ^_^
btw, the picture is also sweet - love thedetail in the skyline and the clouds - theyre so clean and crisp - what did you use to get such perfectly round clouds? almost looks kind of photoshopped theyre so clean....

Gorgeous pic, i love your city scapes. Did you use chalk to highlight? I havnt go a white marker so im sorry about my ignorance ;; Drawing on cardboard is a great idea, have you ever tried newspaper? thou markers and newspaper wouldnt mix i think coz it would soak all the colour up and it would spread. biro is fun though.

i've done transfer with newspaper though, i dunno about drawing with it, its a pretty sweet effect. just get a clear blender (perferably chapack marker) and rub the surface of a newspaper thingy onto a paper, and you get the reverse effect. its really nice.
and i used a white pencil crayon for the white highlights.

I like working on colored paper; it just adds a nice base for you to work with instead of boring, bright white paper. I haven't really tried cardboard though, except for crappy doodles in the back of my notebooks in school. >D

it's always nice to try other textures for drawing, although im sure you can do the samething in photoshop, like start with a brown background for drawing the lineart adn colouring over it, although sicne i have no knoweldge whatsoever about painter i'll just leave it to i dont know what im talking about.
