The hole in the middle is for their E-zo core? Never knew that about the mass effect lore. I just thought it was the rule of cool, on Bioware's part.
Guess it makes sense... can't contain anti-matter with regular matter. Probably have to use some type of gravitational field. And if systems fail and that stuff has the explode, might as well not have it below decks. So why completely enclose that field in a conventional hull structure, if you can help it?

One of the Mass Effect Artbooks explained a bit of the heritage of the Asari Starships like the Destiny Ascension. In first, there was not a Asari starship planned for Mass Effect 1, later they add the Ascension to the script. To spare time the developers just use a early concept for the Mass Relays and use it for the Ascension. They semi-explained it ingame, that Asari starships basically influenced by the Mass Relays and used the same priciples. The hole is guarded with a quantum shield which holds a core of element zero with the help of force fields/mass effect fields.

Would you have an estimated guess as to the crew compliment of this ship? I want to use a corvette in one of my stories but im not sure how many would fit on it.
If you are able could you give a maximum fit and a minimum requirement for the ship to still function?

Alliance corvettes usually had 10 to 15 as stated in the Codex. Asari ships are larger, but with the big hole in their mids for the E-Zero core its around the same usable mass, so i say its around the same. 5 for minimum, 10 to 15 standard and 100 maximum fit for a short time.

Corvettes are my favourite ship class - wery nice bodywork - I also tryed to do one prototype in Spore.

Love the corvettes. Glad to see that the Asari have them. Wonder how the Earth corvettes look. Hey do the Asari ship carry boarding marines. Also do they carry a drop tank or APC like the MAKO?

Yes, the ship can carry the Asari Commandos as ground troops.
But Apc, i dont think so.

OK, so they are used for black ops. Or for deep behind the line combat. That explain lack of APC. Also the regular complement should be Asari MARINES. Just a thought. Still it is a beautiful piece. And the fact that is Alien more so. Hey how about earth corvette?

You keep the orginal design but I think that... the blue colour is bit too dark. I think that the elite squardons and command ships would be painted with another colour... mayby some white stipes at the end? Or just pure white for the biggest heroes in the fleet?

I've always been confused with Mass Effect - do these ships for races like the Asari use turrets? If so... where are they? Do they retract into the hull when not in use?

A firing Asari ship we saw only once. In ME1 in the final battle for the Citadel the Destiny Ascension firing some rockets from these black stripes on the hull. So i think these golden Dots are not only windows but also weapons systems.

Ah, alrighty! Always kinda threw me off - I'm used to ships having at least semi-obvious weapons ports (even in Trek, the phaser emitters are pretty visible), so ME really had me wondering
