A little step to step overview of my prop build for the Star Trek 8 "First Contact" Phaserrifle.This is the one with the black barrel.
I built it out of wood (simply pressboard wood from a old cabinet) with some plastic parts for the details. Construction time was around one and a half week with nearly 2 or 3 hours a day. Beside the cutting part with a jigsaw all is handwork without any machine. I use mostly file and grater, and filler for sealing the pressboard surface.
Painting was a two days work. I use mostly spraypaints for cars.
Full rifle prop is a bit more than 90 cm in lenght.
