The USS Thunderchild in Drydock.A work in progress of my Thunderchild class starship i build after seeing the Centaur class in Star Trek Deep Space Nine. In my eyes, all these Excelsior sub-classes are great, so i would make my own. Its a Alpha Strike ship around the time of 2330 to 2350.
The model on this image wasnt 100 percent finished, but i wanted to see it in a little render.

I think you did an amazing job and this is what the Centaur should have looked like. Adding the extra struts and removing the shuttlebay in front of the bridge really made it work. By the looks of it, I'm thinking it's a patrol/torpedo boat?
And I have to disagree on the Excelsior kitbashes. Particularly the Curry class. It was simply an abomination IMO. Even the Centaur looked bland and unsound to me.

The Centaur is one of my favorite staship classes. Even if its a part of the Frankenstein fleet. The rest of the kitbash fleet is not realy good, but the ships based on the Excelsior class are still the better one than other like the Yeager class or the Elkins.
Yes to your musings. My Thunderchild class is an agile Torpedo cruiser or an Escort. Most of the stronger weapons are front directed for a heavy first strike. But it is not built for long battles. More for hit and run maneuvers.

The Elkins is the ugliest of all of the Frankenstein Fleet. Its a mix between a Intrepid, a F-14 Tomcat, a Runabout and a Miranda. Ex Astris has some images from the studion model: www.ex-astris-scientia.org/artβ¦

The artwork is great, but I have a problem with the name. The USS Thunderchild is an established Akira class starhip.

Yes, i know. This Thunderchild is build in the 2320/30 over 40 Years before the Akira class are in service. In this time the prototype of these Excelsior Subclass is destroyed or out of order.

Thanks alot. Name comes from the HMS Thunderchild in the Book "War of the Worlds". It was a heroic defender against the martians tripods. She saved many civilians in her last battle.
BTW In Star Trek First Contact, one of the Akira class starships is named Thunderchild.
