wow, this one is beautyful and a bit confusing, i confess.
Definetely non androginus and definetely a man, but that feminine hint ( not just the outfit, i mean his facial feautures) is a mix that i can't define in words.
May i suggest to look for a converter female-male for the outfit?
That outfit suits him perfectly ( color, shape, meaning, considering the ultra terrestrian nature), but the mesh came out a bit deformed.
I am trying to understand the rigging and the cloning in DAZ, for now i couldn't manage a decent result yet, otherwise i was more than happy to help.
This detail aside i can only say this one is mesmerizing

<< Perhaps it was even a handmade gift from someone to him. >>
This is a perfect way to see it. It adds warmth.
And sometimes even perfectly made clothers don't collide properly anyway, the downside of pre-morphed 3D graphic contents, i suppose.
Unless we model out own contents ( wich sooner or later i will start, let me grab the patience and the courage, with 4 hands), they can often behave weirdly.
And we can always find other ways to make them look amazing, as you pointed.
About the female-male, or feminine males...
I can see why sometimes this can be seen strangely, the mind gets confused by the mix.
Culturally we tend to address some feautures authomaticly and the brain wants to "fix" things that look misplaced in a certain way.
So the first impact, watching a feminine male is like someone takes away the ground from under your feet all and sudden.
It feels like when you are infront a drawing made from M.C.Esher.
Some people can relate easly with that.
Some need few seconds.
Some simply can't do it.
The third option, for my experience, often is conditioned/affected/related by culture and education, but not always.
As long the criticism doesn't turn in something more extreme and unpleaseant, you can always let them talk and/or use the criticism to your advantage.
When i was 14, the very first description of my oc Crow had, in reaction of the red eyes, rejection, disgust and lots of other comments, because was judged "abnormal" and i was judged in the same way, as consequence.
Well....human beings don't have the same perception of things, even less about art, so, let them be as long as they don't hurt you.
I wrote a poem...again!
Sorry.

lol ^_^ You're very welcome.
It's an odd sort of combination, but, I have to admit, you balance them out quite well.
