Description
On the evening of October 7, 1993, we're on UP's former OSL (Oregon Short Line) Line route 25 miles West of Pocatello ID to chase trains. Soon, we catch Amtrak Train #26, The Eastbound Pioneer, from Seattle WA to Chicago IL, via the Overland Route. The power on tonight train is a lone F40PH leading the 4 car Consist. At Denver, The California Zephyr - Desert Wind - & Pioneer would rejoin together for the run to Chicago. Both the Pioneer & the Desert Wind would fall victim to the budget cuts of 1997, leaving the California Zephyr as the sole train to continue with Amtrak.evangaines 2023
