Description
On the night of October 20, 1997, we're on Conrail's former NYC Line outside of Utica NY to chase trains. Soon, we catch Amtrak Train #48, the Westbound Lake Shore Limited, from Boston MA & New York City NY to Chicago IL. The train was running over 2 hours late due to track maintenance & is making up for lost time behind 2 P42DC's. Around this time, the then new Viewliner I Sleepers started to appear on Eastern Long Distance trains such as the Lake Shore Limited (Shown here), the Crescent, & the Twilight Shoreliner. The Three Rivers wouldn't get the Viewliner Treatment until 2001, when the FRA Mandated waiver keeping the heritage Sleepers in service expired.
