Home of 3 Virtual Railfan Railcams, La Plata is a very popular place to watch trains both online & physically railfan in general. On the morning of March 16, 2008, during a heavy downpour, we caught Amtrak Train #3, The Westbound Southwest Chief, from Chicago to Los Angeles. The train is pulling into La Plata for it's schedule passenger stop running 15 minutes late. The power on this train is 2 P42DC's hauling the 10 Coaches. After it's passenger stop, the train would continue on it's way.evangaines 2023
