Description
On the night of August 3, 1994, we're on Norfolk Southern's Atlanta District outside of Gainesville GA to chase our final train of the night. Soon, our final train appeared before our cameras. It was Amtrak Train #19, the Southbound Crescent, from New York City NY to New Orleans LA. The train was running over 1 hour & 45 minutes behind schedule & is making up for lost time behind 2 Classic F40PH's which were still hauling Amtrak's Regional & Long Distance trains despite the then brand new P40DC Genesis locomotives coming onto the scene. Once the Crescent had passed, we headed back to the lodge for a rest before heading home, the next day.
