On the afternoon of Halloween 2018, we went trick or treating on UP's former SP Shasta Route 40 miles West of Dunsmuir CA to chase trains. Soon, we caught Amtrak Train #14, the Northbound Coast Starlight, from Los Angeles CA to Seattle WA. The train was running over 3 hours & 57 minutes late & is making up for lost time as it crosses the Cascade Creek Trestle heading towards it's next stop in Klamath Falls OR. The power is 2 P42DC's leading a (then) new Viewliner II Baggage Car, 9 Superliners, & 3 Private cars: Northern Pacific Dome Car #549, Southern Lounge Car "Crescent Harbor", & Virginia Rail Investment Group Pullman 10-1-2 Sleeper car "Gamma Kitchi Club". Moths prior, the famous Pacific Parlor Car which was famous in the consist, was retired from service due to cost cutting measures. The car is replaced by a Business Class Superliner II Coach on the Starlight from that point onwards. The train would reach Seattle, that night.evangaines 2023
