Description
On the snowy afternoon of November 28, 1994, we're on the Illinois Central outside of Jackson MS to chase trains. Soon, we caught Amtrak Train #59, the Northbound City of New Orleans, from New Orleans LA to Chicago IL. The train was running over an hour & a half late & is making up for lost time as it passes over the Lower Mississippi River behind 2 F40PH's. The train was recently given the Superliner Treatment with a few of the Superliner I's & II's mixed together. After the City of New Orleans had passed, we headed to Birmingham AL to chase our old friend, N&W J Class 4-8-4 #611 on it's final excursions for the Original NS Steam Program from Birmingham to Chattanooga TN & Return. The following year, Amtrak would reroute the train from the Grenada District to the Yazoo City District due to IC's desire to abandon & sell off the Grenada District to a shortline.
