Description
On the morning of August 28, 1994, we're on UP's former OSL Line outside of Boise ID to chase UP Challenger #3985 on it's Pacific Northwest Tour. At Both Rural Grains Elevators, we caught Both Local Crews Switching out Grain Hoppers for Loading. One Local is led by a GP38-2 & a GP40-2 & the other is led by 2 SD40-2's. Soon, we catch the Challenger & her Excursion consist racing pass both Locals as it heads for Portland OR. The Challenger would have to cross the Blue Mountains & travel through the Columbia River Gorge before arriving in Portland. The Westbound Local would follow the Challenger to the Dalles OR, while the Eastbound Local would continue back to Boise. The 3985 would arrive in Portland the next day.
