OR, "How Eve54 managed to scare away any and all of her Hetalia watchers by doing an unusually obscure meme and showing that she doesn't really ship UsUk and Rochu all that much"
I can not be the only who consider this particular AU a very interesting thing. Seriously, I can't be!
Anyway, I should probably try to add some kind of description of what their actual relationships are like (after all, this particular meme can only do so well in describing how I personally see things go down, no?)
Alright, from the top left, we've
Switzerland <--> France: Switzerland “respects” him on some level, but still finds himself annoyed by the other. France, on the other hand, has heavily implied that he may or may not be afraid of the other whenever he gets all “trigger happy”.
Switzerland <--> Liechtenstein: Adoptive siblings. Switzerland’s family took in the near dying Liechtenstein back when they were both still very young. Switzerland’s very, VERY protective of his sister, but even if they’re as close as they are, he still doesn’t know EVERYTHING about her. Like, who she’s truly in love with…
Switzerland <--> Austria: Former childhood friends. “It’s complicated.” They’re admittedly not as “close” as they used to be.
France <--> Liechtenstein: Married (arranged). Are not in love with each other, but they’re still very friendly towards each other. They are, however, in love with completely different people.
France <--> England: “It’s complicated”. To any outsider, they appear to have something of a friend-hate relationship going on. Despite this, both France and England do appear to show a great deal of closeness regardless of their constant bickering in public… in their own way, of course.
Hungary <--> Liechtenstein: Friends. Get along perfectly well with each other.
Italy <--> Germany: Are romantically involved. Everyone knows about this affair, and I do mean, EVERY-ONE. Despite this, it’s pretty clear that, even after they’ve come to spend a great deal of time together, they don’t know EVERYTHING about the other.
Italy <--> Japan: Friends. Japan bears no ill will towards Italy for “stealing” his husband away from him. Lately, however, due to the limited time the King and the Jack get to have with each other, some people are starting to suspect that Japan might have something to do with it…
Germany <--> Japan: Married (arranged). They are not in love with each other, and Japan is perfectly fine with Germany taking another lover on the side – as long as he realizes that they MUST produce an heir in the future. Lately, however, due to the limited time the King and the Jack get to have with each other, some people are starting to suspect that Japan might have something to do with it…
Germany <--> Austria: Distant relatives. They get along, to some extent.
Japan <--> China: Adoptive brothers. Back when he used to live in the Hearts Kingdom, China took the youngster in and raised him as his own. They eventually had a real nasty falling out – “and the less said about that, the BETTER” – which then caused China to leave, taking both Hong Kong and Macau with him. The two brothers STILL haven’t managed to fully patch things up between each other.
Prussia <--> Germany: Brothers. Germany’s grown a bit suspicious of the Jokers lately, but still can’t help but have some soft spot for his older brother… even if said brother does prove himself to be more of an embarrassment every time they do meet in some form.
Prussia <--> Italy: Friends… if you really like to push it. Prussia absolutely ADORES Italy, while Italy, though a bit scared of him, seems to at least have some positive feelings for the other, whatever they may be.
Prussia <--> Austria+Hungary: Austria and Hungary DO NOT GET ALONG WITH PRUSSIA, AT ALL. He was a dick to both of them growing up together (granted, Hungary did have moments where even she bullied Austria, but shh!), and he’s still a dick now in their eyes. It’s heavily implied that Prussia may be in love with Hungary.
Prussia <--> Russia: Prussia’s scared shitless of the other. Russia’s just… Russia, whenever this Joker’s around. Granted, Prussia DID bully even this guy when they were younger, so some of his crueler gestures towards the other might have some slight tint of a possible grudge.
Prussia <--> Sealand: Friends, at least on a mentor-student kind of level at least. They’re also a pair of troublemakers. Prussia seems to show off a more serious side whenever it’s time to train, a fact Sealand often winds up fearing the most, especially considering his training methods. Prussia also knows about Sealand’s heritage, but under the Jokers’ code, is not allowed to tell him about it.
Sealand <--> England+America: Sealand’s actually the couple’s only biological son, taken away from them when the Jokers felt they’d been “slighted” after the revolution in some form, and then raised to become one of them. Who knows exactly how all three parties would react if this ever came to light?
Spades <--> Jokers: Terrible, terrible relations, to the point that anyone who even shows having any magical powers (unless you’re the King/Queen) are then promptly exiled from the Spades. Kind of ironic, considering the fact that a) the Jokers actually HELPED them in the revolution (sure, it involved completely destroying the previous ruling houses, but hey, it got the job done, right?); b) the Spades’ King and Queen are magic users thanks to making a deal with them during the revolution; and c) THEY WERE THE ONES WHO ACTUALLY ASKED THEM FOR HELP IN THE FIRST PLACE. As such, some of the other relations the Spades have with the other Decks are bound to suffer from this, especially since they’re the ones who has to take these grudge-filled magic users in. Either way, expect anyone who’s a part of that kingdom post-revolution to hate all of the Jokers with a burning passion (but still LOVE their King and Queen with the same kind of passion as well), unless they were the ones exiled from there. And yes, that also includes the two figure-heads as well, though admittedly they also have some very personal reasons for doing so.
China <--> America: Secret lovers. Like, really, really secret lovers, to the point that no one would’ve been able to figure it out.
China <--> England: HATE. But not for the reasons one might think (it’s not necessarily because of America, though that has some part in it). (Remember, China and America are secret lovers; NO ONE KNOWS ABOUT THE AFFAIR. Their affair is NOT as open as Germany and Italy’s!) The reason is because England “stole” one of his relatives, and how the two aren’t afraid to put each other down when they’ve both experienced a really bad day. It is during these bad days, especially when their “petty rivalry” goes on for much longer, that some have even begun to theorize that they each are plotting to have the other removed.
China <--> Russia: Friends. China used to fear and distrust the other heavily before he got to know him, only to then find the other could be a wonderful companion. It’s because of this closeness that these two share that some have even started to theorize that they might in fact be lovers, when in reality it couldn’t have been farther from the truth.
America <--> England: Married (arranged). These two were married sometime after the revolution ended and they became the country’s new rulers. England is VERY MUCH in love with America, while America only ever really considers him a close friend of his, maybe even to something akin to a BROTHER, and he does feel at least some guilt over the fact that his feelings can’t go beyond anything but that, and has to look somewhere else in order to feel it. The kidnapping of their son definitely put some strains on their relationship as well; what once could’ve grown and bloomed into actual love for each other was extinguished before it even had a chance.
America <--> Russia: “It’s complicated”. They used to be secret lovers, but no longer are; their relationship is still a bit rocky, thus hinting at a real nasty breakup between the two. Despite this, they have been shown to get along at times, taking some great deal of pleasure in messing with the other rulers whenever they get the chance, especially England.
England <--> Russia: HATE. The one affair England knew America was having, and which he kept pestering the other to end (he wouldn’t do it until at least two months later). Russia’s not a huge fan of him, not in the slightest.
Russia <--> Hungary: Married (arranged). Russia’s not interested in Hungary in that way, nor is she really all that interested in him either. Despite this, they don’t necessarily HATE each other, either; like all the other married couples on this list, both Russia and Hungary do in fact get along. Though, that still won’t stop her from feeling a tad bit frustrated that he doesn’t even seem all that interested in political matters either, instead leaving it up to her and Austria to deal with everything.
Russia <--> Austria: Nothing. They generally feel “nothing” about each other; no hate, no petty dislikes, but they also don’t necessarily like each other that much either.
Hungary <--> Austria: In love with each other. Everyone who’re close to these two know about this affair, including their king, but no one’s been stopping them so far; after all, things have been running rather smoothly for the kingdom so far, so why try to destroy everything over something as petty as this?
Granted, there are of course OTHER characters that exist in this AU, but are obviously not featured because, well, they never actually got a design for this particular AU by the big man himself.
If you're interested in finding out more about how this AU works in my mind that's not fully explained here (like what other positions there are and who inhabits these, how each kingdom works as well as their actual relations with one another, etc.), don't be afraid to ask! I'll try to answer to the best of my capabilities ^^ Can't promise that the actual answers will be satisfying enough, though
