What is it about robot spiders ? Is it just me or are they just cool.

I've been working on this on and off for a couple of weeks, its been one of those projects that just seem to be cursed. I've had to rebuild large parts of it at least six times due to file curruption, accidental deletion, saveing over the wrong file and Mental Ray flat out refuseing to render it (I still have figured out why).

Due to the complexity of the model I had to come up with some new methods for getting smooth looking curves while keeping the ploy count down. Even so it weighed in at 237,457 faces, verging on the limits of my hardware.

I've also come to understand the value of rendering in layers, it makes it alot easier when it come to post production.
