Description An allosaurus profile I did awhile back. I was proud of all the detail I put into this, even if the background was virtually nonexistent and had none of my usual detailed background-ness.

Please full view, as most of the detail is lost in the thumbnail.

Yeah, that's what I colored it with, though all of the outline was done in black pen.

yay! allosaurus is my fave tyrannosaur

Thanks, but Allosaurus is not a tyrannosaur, it's a carnosaur.

o, sry lol. but wats the difference?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

EWilloughby In reply to PsyrapMafia [2007-01-22 17:15:08 +0000 UTC]

There are a fair number of differences, actually. Allosaurs were a much more primitive group and lived in the Jurassic period, around 150 million years ago. They're considered carnosaurs, and are overall a more basal group than Tyrannosaurs, which are considered coelurosaurs, a group that includes raptors (so T. rex is actually more closely related to Velociraptor than to Allosaurs). Tyrannosaurs were much more recent also; T. rex is from the late Cretaceous, around 65 million years ago.

There are a lot of specific structural differences also, but the main thing to keep in mind is that they belong to completely different families (and different infraorders) and aren't really that similar or closely related over all.

all those little ity bitty scales...I would have gotten so bored after a while & just ditched it. Thats why I never put scales on my dinos/dragons, hehe.
amazing job you did here.

That must of took quite a bit of time, and effort. How long did it take?? 0.0 There seems to be millions upon millions of scales and tiny details and your coloring always amazes me. How it goes from reds to yellows and green in the background. Usuallly red and green remind of me of Christmas and crap but this somehow avoided Damn goregous picture overall, you should consider doing this professional some day. I think you'd be great at it

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

EWilloughby In reply to Goshawk [2005-04-30 03:40:55 +0000 UTC]

Not too much, actually. It was more time-consuming than anything. I did almost all of the scale detail during a school assembly.

Ah, school assemblies. I usually either fidget the whole time or fall asleep. They never let us bring sketchbooks T_T

Wow! amazing detail! this needs to be in my fave's...great job on this, the texture is ...*sighs*...perfect.

just a li'l critique: are allosaur eyes that big? or am i just retarded... And the skin on where the mandible and skull connect seems a little strange, though i don't know why, it's too smooth or something...i don't know, i'm going to shut up now as to not sound like an ass-hole. great job! *loves this*

Although lil' "dragonic", I put this in my favs. The coloring and skin texture is great. I think the corners of the mouth should extend to the end on the jaws and maybe someone can verify if the ear is mislocated. But I`m not here to bring your artwork down, I still think it`s magnificent!

Okay, stop the clock here! You gotta post some sort of disclaimor for the sake of your viewers. Something like: Warning, totally flawlessly cool work of art ahead - may cause uncontrollable fits of giddyness and gawking. Yeah something like that.

Seriously though, I love this picture to bits... off to view your gallery now!
