Time for a minor update on my little experiment. I fixed the nose, added more hair, and attempted adding shininess to her hair, but only slightly. I don't want it to be overwhelming or anything. It took me FOREVER to get the nose right! And I made her lipgloss shinier. ^_^.I'm really having trouble deciding what to do with her bare shoulders.. suggestions?

everything looks a bit soft, more definition would make it look a tad more realistic. the only other thing that strikes me is that it looks like her lower lip blends into her chin, so maybe a little shading under that would help a bit.
i think those 2 things would really help make this more realistic. :]
btw, the hair looks very real the way it's placed.

Thanks for the suggestions! I'll be working on that this week probably.. Everything looks so soft because I tried to avoid hard edges since it makes everything too unrealistic, but I guess I went for a look that was too soft. Thanks for pointing that out!

Thanks! I wanted to get away from her recent blonde obsession and go back to the way she used to be, when she was somewhat less eccentric. I liked a lot of her music then, but I also like most of her music now. I suppose it was a bit of reminiscing from the time she did Duty, etc.

I agree with the Joyce. If they're bare, there is more of a sense of...um, uncertainty? Yeah, uncertainty. That would go well with her expression.

Bare shoulders eh? Seems like the idea's getting popular. It's hard to shape JUST bare skin. I realize now, that the hardest thing to do is go without lines.

Yeah. Shaping and shading and molding are definitely my weak points. I found a site that helps with figuring out good shading techniques in Photoshop...but I'm sure it could be applied to other mediums as well. ^_^

How cute I love her eyes her eyes came out very nice in this picture. And I love how you did her face well enough for it too look real. You also did a wonderful job on her expression. Nice work with the skin tones as well this is a really great peace.

looking awesome! as for the shoulders, maybe a pink top, but on that sort of hugs the side of the shoulders? i'm thinking a knit kind. hm but it's only an idea ^^

i picked pink because.....well the pic has a quite a bit of grey and grey-orange tints and shades in it, so she is a little on the pale side no? she does have pink in her face but it is slight, so to bring out the colour in her face, maybe a pink shirt would do the trick to bring more focus to that...do i made sense? 
red would be too harsh, orange too bland. pink seemed right.

Seems a tad too pastelly blurry light. That's prolly why her shoulders bother you. I think you should go over the skin one more time for more shadow-ness and highlight etc...
I love her face and expression by the way. She's gorgeous! The eyes/eyelashes and hair are lovely!

Ah.. contrast. I also suck at giving enough contrast in colors. Since I have no lines to fall back on, colors are all I have. This is a lot harder than I thought it would be. ><

Well I'm hard on contrast and I suck at everything else. It's always one thing or the other eh? Anyhow, I'm sure you of all artists can pull anything off your imaginary hat! Don't be shy to draw/paint/art-up to the extreme! Make copies and experiment ways to fix it and whatnot.
