I personally love the changes and love the new Dante! So I'm happy to see other people drawing him so much now. (Even if you dont know if you don't like him yet!, I'm glad you're giving him a chance.)

How about not like him because the people from Ninja Theory are arrogant, claimed THEIR game will be the best Devil May Cry ever, believing DmC will sell 5 million, insulted previous installments and claimed we secretly want to like. What a load of shit. (especially since DmC runs 30 frames and Dante is suppose to be half-angel)

They never said their game will be the best but that they hope it will be the best, and in terms of insulting the original games they simply stated that what was considered cool back then may not be cool now.

But the original Dante is STILL cool, cool enough to appear in Marvel vs Capcom 3.
Dante's appearance is as memorable as Mario, Scorpion, Cloud, Snake, etc. They're not fads or trends, they're icons.

I think what ninja theory were trying to say is that they wanted dante to be considered "cool" by a wider demographic, many of my friends who haven't really play devil may cry say that the old dante is bad and not cool at all, where as they say the new dante is cooler because he is based around a more modern and more widely accepted view of cool or badass or whatever.

I was really really pissed off when I first heard about this but I've been raging about "revamping" classics for a while so now I'm warming up to him a lot. I like your rendition of New(Old? I don't know the story behind his look) Dante c:

If you do decide to play it make sure you rent or buy used. In the sales market the only thing that game studios count are NEW sales. This way if it sucks you aren't inadvertently telling them you like this new Dante by giving them money.
If it doesn't suck then you can give them rave reviews and buy a new copy to show your support if it's good enough.

My advice is for someone on the fence about it, which the author of this piece says they are. It lets you play it to see if you like it but also gives you the freedom from being ANOTHER person who bought it.
