i really wanted to do something a little sloppier than i had been doing and this felt like the perfect release. i think this is the direction im headed.acrylic on wood

I'm having a hard time grasping the realism that you're able to render in the faces you make. I looked through your gallery and I really love your style; the mix between the hyperrealistic and the chaos of exploding colours is brilliant!

thank you so so much for your wonderful comment! i really pour my heart into my work and it felt incredible to hear your thoughts. over the last 18 months or so i have been learning/using a dry brush washing technique to get a more realistic look out of my portraits. its the same technique that the masters used (davinci, michelangelo etc.) its very time consuming and tedious but i love the results and i find it to be really meditative and rewarding. i cant say it enough so thank you again for your words, they are very very appreciated!

well thank you again! and i would love to show you my process, its funny cuz i always track my pieces from start to finish but the photos are never very good, but i just got a new point and shoot that seems pretty decent so on my next piece ill track the whole process and ill try to explain what im doing at each step. and thank you for the encouragement, im just very grateful for the people that do look and enjoy my work.

I LOVE the lips. My eye is drawn right to the lips. And the dribbling is great.
I've noticed also that you take great photos of your work. That is one of my struggles. I have to rely a lot on scanners, and the one I have access to blows hardcore. What's your secret?

thank you for your wonderful comment, yeah i spent the most time on the lips on the bottom face, it was supposed to be more gestural but i want to do a little fine tuning in some areas, but the secret, is to have friends that have really awesome cameras and know how to fine tune the lighitng and get the right shot, i am just really lucky that one of my bestfriends and mentors has an awesome camera and knows how to use it, i personally have no idea how to do it, i just let him work his magic hahaha sorry i cant be of more help
