I was lucky enough to see one F-14 flight demo here in Texas

That's where I saw it, there was one from VF-202 on static display at the airshow, don't know which the demo aircraft belonged to(I was too young and it was moving too fast to see the markings). Saw an XV-15 demoΒ there,Β too!

Screw modern, dull overall grey pattern with little, tiny, microscopic and blurry national insignia- bleeeh XP I miss those classic colorful schemes so much with proud national insignia (as much as I miss the F-14 herself, as a warrior in service, rather than retired). Another classic scheme for the Tomcat that I also liked a lot was the "Wolf Pack".
Β Brilliant take :3

The WolfPack was one of my favorites as well. I'm currently working on a scale F-14"E" that will sport the classic VF-1 CAG markings over a modern tactical gray. Here's what it looks like so far -Β kiba928.deviantart.com/art/Wolβ¦

I am not sure what Top Gun reference you are describing. This was a VF-2 acft when I photographed it in 1990.
I really do not the the Naval Fighter Weapons School (Top Gun) at Miramar operated the F-14 (but I could be wrong). I know NSAWC at NAS Fallon did operate the F-14 in adversary marks before these were retired.

It's the name of one of the songs in top gun that play during the Maverick vs jester scene and the credits.
